What tools make cooking simpler for you? Have a favorite kitchen gadget you can't live without? How about the most useless tool in your kitchen? Maybe something you like to use, but takes up way too much space? I love the kitchen, it's probably my favorite room in any given house. I do not like my kitchen I am in now. It is small, and cramped and makes it hard to get the whole family in there cooking up a good time. 2010 brought with it my new favorite kitchen gadget - the Breadmaker. For Christmas 2009 my mom got me the Breadman Breadmaker. I thought it was cool, but at the time I still really enjoyed getting my hands in the dough and letting the kids help make the bread too. So I didn't use it whole lot. Then we moved here..
I still love cooking, and being in the kitchen, it's just become a lot harder to do the big fun stuff. Enter stage left.....
My Breadman Bread Maker. Yes it takes up one of the few counter spaces I have, but it opened up the time to play with kids, and do more cleaning. Gosh I love this thing. (we loved it so much, we bought mom a bread maker this last Christmas!)
This thing does everything from beginning to end. Kneading, rising and baking. But it doesn't end there. You can have it just knead the bread, then you make it into rolls, pitas, cinnamon buns and cook in the oven. Or make some homemade jelly in it!!!
Here's the latest and greatest from our beloved Bread Maker
mmmm clover leaf white rolls. Dinner's going to be good tonight!!
don't tell but two rolls have already gone missing.....

To those of you who coupon and "get it", I say WOW. I watched a portion of ABC's extreme couponing, and I couldn't believe the savings these people were getting. So I figured I'd better jump on the bandwagon and try and save my family a little more money. I've done two shopping trips using coupons. The first one, I'm not sure how much was really saved, since it's not stuff I would normally get, but it was a pretty good deal. Today's shopping trip was a bit different. I saved $25!!!!! Of course I spent about that much too. It would've been more savings but I got lost in all my coupons and missed some things, grabbed the wrong things.
Hopefully by the end of january though, I will have this down to an art!
Anyone here coupon? Have any tips, or fun stories to share? Know of any good deals going on?

It is so much nicer to open this closet and actually know where things are, and get to them easily. In case you're wondering about the treasure chest on the floor....it holds real treasure! Kidding, but really to the kids it is treasure. It's full of candy, and when the kids are good, they get to pick out a piece.
I also made the decision to put this coat hook out in the hall instead of in the closet. It may need some manly touches to keep it hanging better, but until the hubby gets home, this will do.

Well I did it. I started on the Hall Closet. I knew I would need a full day to do this. So I enlisted help from the family and got the house in good shape last night so today I was able to focus. Here's a few before shots for you to see what I was up against.

With the arrival of 2011 I've been thinking of what I want to do with my life, where I want to be going, who I want to be. So I've decided to make a few changes to this blog. It will no longer just be about my home organization and design. I will be posting recipes, exercises, personal goals and accomplishments, giveaways and still continue to share my home organization and designs with you.
So what do I want to accomplish this year? A lot.
1. Home Organization (still my number 1!)
2. I want to lose 10 lbs. It's not a big number, but I know it's something I can accomplish.
3. Coinciding with #2 I want to be healthier in exercise and food choices.
4. I want to run in at least 2 races this year
5. Buy our first home.
These really aren't in any particular order, as they all have significance to me. #5 is especially exciting. For 5 years we have been renting, or living with family. We are finally ready to purchase our very first home. I posted awhile back about the home we put an offer on. We're still waiting to hear back from them. If we do get that home, there is going to be so much to post on here! It needs a lot of updating and personal touches to it, that I am already excited about doing. I know I know, I need to be patient, our offer hasn't even been accepted, but I like to dream.
#3 and #4 come from my past actually. In high school I ran cross country. I was never the best, but I loved running. After going off to college and getting married and having kids, I put running and exercise on the back burner. No longer. I ran a 4miler at the end of 2010, and although it was rough, I enjoyed every minute of it! I want to set a good example of health for my children, so they know how important health is to a happy life.
I hope the New Year finds you all in good health and spirit. May your 2011 be a good one!!
