Home Maid Simple: Sponsors

National Alopecia Areata Foundation

This particular cause hits close to home for me. When my daughter was just a little past one years old, we found her covered in her own hair. I was flabbergasted, thinking at first she must have rolled in a dog bed, except that we had not been near any animals, or in any homes with animals.  I was concerned over the matter, when her hair seemed to fall out very easily, and on a daily basis. After a call to our wonderful family doctor, and an appointment we had a diagnosis of Alopecia Areata: an autoimmune skin disease, that attacks the hair making it fall out. Over time people with this disease can develop Alopecia totalis - a full loss of head hair, and Alopecia  universalis - total body hair loss.
Our daughter is now 4 years old and has not had a recurring "episode" yet.
