I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday. Whether spending it with friends and family, or home in the quiet able to reflect on your blessings. I wanted to take a bit today to share a few things I am grateful for.
    • My family. A husband who works hard. Kids who are my life. And my parents and siblings who really made me who I am today (in a very good way!)
    • This blog. It came at a very pivotal time in my life, and has grown into a business I never imagined or dreamed of having, but has been such a blessing to my life.
    • You guys! If there’s one thing I can count on, it’s my readers. Without you, there’d be no blog! Weekend Bites is by far the best part of my weekend as I get to search your blogs and recipes.
    • My church. The gospel of Jesus Christ. Scriptures, and prayer. These are key components to who I am, and make me a better person. And by that I mean, each day I strive to be better than the last, because I make many many mistakes in my life. I know I can change each day though!

I’m skipping the features today, but would love to hear what you are thankful for! Maybe you’ve shared it with a recipe, or you’d just like to let me know in the comments!

    Enjoy your Weekend!

Are you my mummy? Mummy? Are you my mummy?

If you’ve ever seen Doctor Who, you may get my reference. If not, I’m sorry. You should go watch it. In fact as a special Halloween treat to yourself, you should most definitely watch the episode titled The Doctor Dances.

However, as I’m prone to do, I digress. We’re not actually talking about that kind of mummy today. No today I’ve got a special round up of white cloth wrapped Mummy treats to share. Of course they’d be great to serve to friends and family while watching Doctor Who as well. Enjoy

I’m sitting here feeling a chill run through my bones. The kind that once again has me debating turning on the heat. Fall has officially arrived, and our nights and mornings are pretty cool, but midday still gets up in the 70’s. Until it drops to lower 60’s I just don’t think I can bring myself to turn up that heat. So until then, you can probably find me curled under some quilts my grandma made, with a pot of soup cooking on the stove.

I personally love a good broccoli cheese soup, followed by tomato and chili. My kids love any soup as long as bread is served along the side for some dipping. To comply with their tastes I picked up some more yeast this week, and will be busy baking our own bread again.

Oh so many good recipes were shared last week. I finally narrowed it down to some Halloween goodies to feature for you. I’ve pulled my minimal Halloween decor out this week, and the kids are raving about our Family Costume idea. We’re going as the emotions from Inside Out. Since there’s 6 of us though, and only 5 emotions I’ll be dressing up as Bing Bong. I’m pretty stoked about how it’s coming together, and can’t wait to show you later this month.

I hope you’ve all had a fantastic week! I’m looking forward to browsing your recipes as I make this next week’s menu plan.

Fall is here ya’ll! Autumn is my favorite season of all! The leaves change color, the weather is a perfect blend of cool and warm. You can still play outside, then cuddle up under a blanket with a cup of cocoa or a bowl of soup to warm up in the evenings. The first day of fall was on Wednesday, and that has me all kinds of happy! So this week, enjoy the fall flavors.

Does it feel like the week flies by to anyone else? I feel as if I just wrote up our 50th Weekend Bites party, but here we are again! It’s been a fun week around here. I shared one of our favorite treats – frozen FROZEN grapes – and also a morning printable sure to put a smile on anyone’s face. There are lots of projects being cooked up around here, and I can’t wait to share them with you! Some are food related, but many are home decor. I’ve got a patio table makeover coming, a homework station, and family travel map! However, I can’t get to all these projects without some good food from you all. So here’s what caught my eye and will be heading to my menu this month.

WOW!! 50 weekends of sharing good food with all of you! I’m feeling nostalgic, so let’s take a little look back.  Almost 4 years ago, in January of 2012 Diane from Simple Living and Eating joined with me as we started the weekly Foodie Friday hop.
    remember this?
After a fantastic 3 year run, we decided to change the name to Weekend Bites. Shortly after the name change Diane left as my co-host to pursue other interests. I debated shutting down our weekly party, but decided to reach out to a fairly new blogger, Debi from Practical Parenting Ideas. She was immediately on board, and has brought a lot to the behind the scenes of this party. In fact, her newest idea you may have already seen – Instagram Features! We will now be taking the features and sharing them with our instagram followers, giving you 2x the love! Woot Woot!
While Weekend Bites has only been going for 50 weeks, the party has been here for so much longer! To those who have been linking up since the beginning, thank you! You make this party every single week, and it is for you that I continue on. I love seeing your delicious food, and trying as many recipes as I can.
    Now let’s CELEBRATE!
