IMAGE: Clearance Sale- Items Starting at $4.99
I’m working on a new series for the blog this summer focused on FASHION! That’s right, this very unfashionable chick is going to share her story in “Finding Fashion”.  After a couple key purchases I’ve made over the last year I’ve found that dressing a certain way really makes me feel better inside and out. It all started with a pair of boots from Cents of Style.
I love checking out their Fashion Friday deals (use coupon code SEA for 50% off on 5/16), but was really excited when I found their clearance section – with many items as low as $4.99 shipped!

    Fashion Friday and Female Veterans

*I received a free scarf in exchange for this post. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.*

For the entire month of September Cents of Style is offering their Stars and Stripes scarf for only $9.95 with the code FALLSCARF.
BUT in addition to receiving this amazing deal, for every FALLSCARF code used Cents of Style is donating $1 to the female Veterans charity Final Salute Inc.
Did you know that there are an estimated 55,000 homeless Female Veterans?  Final Salute Inc helps find suitable and stable housing for female veterans. Here at Home Maid Simple, we know how important the home is. You can live anywhere and call it a your house, and you can make any place a home. But being homeless, means no house and no home.
I hope you’ll join me and Cents of Style as we support Final Salute Inc with these scarfs that say we’re proud to call America Home, and we believe that all our Veterans should have a safe place to call home as well.

Working It Out by Rachel Anderson #BookReview

Working It Out A chance encounter . . . Grace Warren’s life is safe and predictable—exactly the way she likes it. But when she gets roped into going to an auction to help out a friend, everything changes. She meets Seth Tuttle—a guy who unexpectedly kisses her then disappears, leaving her flustered and upset. If she never sees him again, it will be too soon.
A chance for love . . . Weeks later, when Seth limps into Grace’s rehab clinic post surgery, she immediately recognizes him. Unfortunately, he’s every bit as frustrating and annoying as she remembered. Yet there’s something about him that makes her second-guess her carefully placed boundaries even though he’s everything she’s sure she doesn’t want in a man. But maybe Seth is exactly what Grace has needed all along—assuming she’s willing to risk safe and predictable for a chance at love.

    Author Rachael Renee Anderson

Rachael Anderson is the author of five novels (Working It Out, The Reluctant Bachelorette, Minor Adjustments, Luck of the Draw, and Divinely Designed) and two novellas (Twist of Fate, from the All I Want anthology and The Meltdown Match from The Timeless Romance Anthology: Summer Wedding Collection). She’s the mother of four and is pretty good at breaking up fights, or at least sending guilty parties to their rooms. She can’t sing, doesn’t dance, and despises tragedies. But she recently figured out how yeast works and can now make homemade bread, which she is really good at eating.

My Review:  I really enjoyed reading Working It Out. Although this was a quick read, and one full of romance and pure fun, it also made me think. What am I doing in my life, to hinder having some fun? Am I giving excuses to avoid a possible outcome, or do I really try to live my life to the fullest?  Rachel took some sensitive subject with disabilities, but also a true fear of “what may happen” and turned them into positive outcomes. After reading Working It Out, I’m actually almost inspired to go book a paintball date with Mark. We’ve never done something like that, mostly because I worry – What if it hurts? What if I look like a fool? What if..?

  • Ultimate Blog Party 2013

    Ultimate Blog Party 2013

    Ultimate Blog Party 2013
    It’s a party, and I’m fashionably late.
First off, thank you UBP party goers for stopping by Home Maid Simple.  Put down those brooms and dusters, hire a maid for the day and let’s party!
I actually debated joining the party this year. I have no idea why I would debate such a thing. I’ve joined the last two years and got to “meet” many fun bloggers, as well as businesses.  In fact you should check out My Sweet Potato 3 etsy shop – last year I won a fun dinosaur hat from her.  Still love it on the little Prince.
So better late then never right?  If you haven’t been by Home Maid Simple before let me show you around.
You should really start with my About Me page.  I’m fun, quirky, but most importantly I’m mom and wife to the best family ever.
Did you read it?  And you came back?  Awesome, you are now my new favorite reader 🙂
Now that you know a little bit more about me, let’s look at this place I call my blog.  I began Home Maid Simple during a tumultuous time in my life.  Mark (aka husband, hubby, handsome) had recently finished school and we were settling into his new job. I had no friends nearby, and was hitting a stage all too familiar in PPD after our 3rd child.  I needed an out – a place I could do something just for me.   Although I really wanted to go back to school myself, it just wasn’t in the car yet.  I looked around, and decided I needed motivation.  Motivation to be a better person, mother, wife, and homemaker.  What better way to do that than share myself with the world.
This blog has grown immensely ever the past 2 1/2 years since it was born. My writing has improved, and I’ve become a better person – truly I have.
While you my readers give me the motivation, you’re probably wondering “what do I get out of this relationship?”
Allow me to show you –
Cool link parties full of yummy food every Friday
    BWS tips button
Extremely fun, and sometimes completely random thoughts on Thursdays….but always thought provoking
And periodically you also get to hear about some awesome companies and receive discounts with the occasional giveaway.
    {hint, now would be a good time to check out the sidebar —-> for my current giveaways}
If you are getting to me late in the party, you may have missed them, but be assured I have an amazing, probably the best giveaway ever coming up end of April…..something like oh a Pfister faucet….shhhh I didn’t say anything yet!
Of course if you missed the giveaways don’t despair!  I do still have a savings opportunity for you.  I mean what’s a party without a little goodie?
Head over to Conscious Box and get 25% off your subscription
    Use code: BESTPLANET
And if that isn’t enough for you, I’ve got 5 invites to give out to a new site called Happify.  It’s the newest social media site all about getting happy and spreading happiness around.  The first 5 comments to request an invite and leave a contact email will be sent the invite.  Happify is still in beta mode, so it is by invite only you can join right now.
Come on all, and let’s get happy!  You better chase all your cares away!
(FYI.. I very periodically break out into song as well.)
  • A story of Sunglasses and Sandals

A story of Sunglasses and Sandals

We have had a sunglasses problem over here recently. Mark wears them everywhere. He wouldn’t be Mark if he didn’t have a pair on him all the time. He recently lost every single pair (and he has like 3). We figured the kids must have taken off with them, since that’s what usually happens. They all claimed innocence though. For Mark’s birthday I let him pick out a new pair.  Guess what happened?  He found his favorite pair a short week after his new ones arrived. And it wasn’t the kids – no he had left them inside one of his suit coats. It was like Christmas!

If you are a sunglasses lover like Mark, you’ll probably love these from Cents of Style.  The best part is you can get them for Free, today only, with a $25 or more purchase!

Fashion Friday- 3/15/13- FREE Sunglasses with every order over $25.00
Now, for me, it’s all about the flip flops. I use to wear them year round, even with feet of snow on the ground. I’ve gotten old though, and my feet aren’t as tough as they used to be. I’m still a huge flip flop in warm months fan though.  It was really sad last summer when my favorite pair broke while at the zoo. We had to stop and purchase a hot pink zebra print sandal, that I normally wouldn’t have even considered.
Well, Cents of Style has got some cute new sandals in today as well, and they are all under $25. PLUS you can get another 10% off with coupon code BREAK.
