    The Nursery – After (almost)

    Shine Your Light

Although we’re not quite finished with this room, I wanted to get it linked up with Shine Your Light’s Before and After party. We spent a lot of time in the nursery this past month, and soon it’s probably where I’ll spend the majority of my time – day and night.

First I got all of the stuff cleaned out of the room that didn’t belong. If you want to take a look at the before and just what a job that was you can view it here.  Once I had that finished up, Mark set to work painting. We had all the fun multicolors replaced with a soft baby blue in one weekend. From there it was just a matter of setting up the nursery.

This beautiful rocking chair arrived by mail yesterday (thank you so much Grandma!). Oh and the drapes aren’t actually hung up yet. We’ve got to figure out the best way to get them to hang over the blinds without causing odd bumps.

I bought the cute baskets on top of the dresser from The Foundary. The dresser was given to me from a lady in our neighborhood. We have big plans for this dresser!!

And of course the essential crib. We’ve had this piece since Princess V was born and it has held up fantastically through all 3 girls! The car seat however is brand new.
We still have a few things to add. Setting up the nursery was pretty easy, and didn’t take long at all. So why isn’t the room done yet you ask? Mark and I have been working on other projects for the nursery. The first and foremost was the puzzle. With each new addition to our family, Mark and I sit and put a puzzle together. We then glue it, get it framed and hang it on the wall. I just got the glueing done today, so we should have it hanging by next week.
Mark has also been working on a model airplane that we will suspend from the ceiling. It’s still a work in progress though.

    The Nursery – before

Shine Your Light Well I forgot to get my after post up of our kitchen last month, and still haven’t even posted it! I promise a full post on the kitchen is coming a litte later this week, with before and after shots! But before it gets too late again, I wanted to show you my Before and after project for the month of February. The Nursery!  That’s right, baby Prince is due in 2 months, so it’s time to get the nursery all set up.  For the last, oh 4 months, the nursery has been used as a store all room. If I didn’t know what to do with something it got tossed in there.

I’ve tossed out a few boxes of garbage already. Gone through many more boxes, and still have some more to do. Amazingly I found a box of checks, so I don’t have to order any more! I knew I had some somewhere.
My biggest problem is that I’ve begun just moving things from one room to another. Since we put Princess R in the same room with her sisters, we had another “empty” room. So most of the items from here, have been moved to another store all room. One day I’ll have the energy and vision to get it all completely organized.
Our plans for the nursery are fairly simple. Although the multi-colored walls did grow on us, we will be painting them all the same color – blue.  We purchases some blue curtains for the windows with a gift card my sisters gave us for Christmas. I got some blue argyle bins to store diapers and other baby items.
One of my favorite traditions, though, is the puzzle. Mark and I pick a puzzle out for each of our kids. We put it together, glue it, and frame it to hang in their room. We are both pretty excited for the baseball puzzle we purchased for this room.  Once the painting it done, we’ll set up a card table in the nursery to get it put together out of the Princesses reach.
We still need to find a dresser, and possibly a changing table. I’ve become pretty adept at changing babies on the floor though, so it’s not really a need. I can’t think of anything else we need, but I’m sure once the room starts coming together I’ll be adding more.
  • Baby’s Room – DONE!

    Baby’s Room – DONE!

I spent most of Wednesday working in the baby’s room to get it all organized and set up.  It is so nice to walk in there now and not feel cluttered!

After we got the toys and books organized on the shelf, we added the vinyl flowers! We got these at a great price on amazon, and used a gift card earned through swagbucks
Mark got her puzzle hung up in a perfect spot! The puzzle is a tradition we’ve done with each child. When we find out the gender, we buy a puzzle to put together and then frame.  Every family should have a tradition!
And last was the closet.  I had to go through some boxes to find the 12 month clothes, but we found them.  Then I put the old clothes back in a box to store for another child.  I love this closet.  There’s just so much space perfect for organizing a small childs clothes.
We still have one more picture to hang.  When Princess R was born Mark bought me this beautiful print of a mother holding a baby.  It always makes me think of Mary holding Christ.  It just fills me with peace and joy – similar to the feelings I get when I look in the eyes of my children.  However, middle of the night awakenings make it hard to feel that, so the picture really helps!
