STEM with Adventurer Abby
I received product for review. All opinions are my own.We got our first Adventurer Abby box in the mail today! Only a few minutes before Princess V got home from school too – it was like the stars had aligned. Princess V loves science. It’s been hard for me, only because it’s not a subject I ever really took to. I love science don’t get me wrong, it just wasn’t ever my subject, ya know?Adventurer Abby is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) subscription service for young girls, between the ages of 6-9. Princess V is 8, going on 9, but has really just found a love for these sciencey things. I give credit to her teacher this year, who challenges her class with STEM activities every Friday. From experimenting with different forms of matter, to building spaghetti towers – it’s easily the favorite day for Princess V at school.One thing we really wanted Princess V to learn to love this year though was reading. She struggles with that (loves hearing stories!), but actually reading has been hard for her. For this reason I truly love Adventurer Abby! Before you can do anything, you have to read the story. One tells the beginning of Abby’s story, and the 2nd is more specific to the adventure Abby is going in with this box.Princess V and I took turns reading through the stories. I could tell just in the way her voice perked up near the end of the stories, and when we got to the experiment, that reading is not necessarily hard for her – but just not enjoyable. Pairing it with something she DOES love however, made quite a difference. Finally on to the experiment!Adventurer Abby makes sure the kids are safe! With safety goggles and gloves, Princess V was ready to start reading the instructions, to help solve the adventure Abby is on.In this adventure we learned the catalyst. First we had to create two different mixtures. One is a hydrogen peroxide and soap mix (with food coloring for effect!). The other is a yeast and warm water.The last and final step, encouraged us to move to a sink. Since I was having too much fun experimenting, the kitchen was a bit of a mess still. So we grabbed a large bowl instead. Princess V’s first question before mixing these was “Is it going to explode Mom?”Purchase your Adventurer Abby subscription!Follow Adventurer AbbyI’d love to hear about a recent experiment you’ve done I can share with Princess V. -

Castles and Catapults
This post contains affiliate links.Last year for Christmas I bought Princess R a subscription to Kiwi Crate. I try to be a fun mom, and be all crafty, but truth be told it’s just not me. Thank goodness for things like pinterest to help inspire me! I had a friend who I knew bought Kiwi Crate for her daughter the year before, so I asked her what she thought, was it worth it, etc. She only had good things to say about it!
Now, I only have good to say about it as well! I’ve been trying to get pictures all year of her playing with the crafts each month, but found myself setting the camera aside to just sit and be with her and play. One of the more recent crates however, was just too fun not to take photos to share with you. Castles and Catapults I’d easily say is this girls favorite new “toy”.
This picture really captured how much fun we’ve had with the castle and catapult. After the dragon took over the castle, ate the King, and Prince, and stole the Princess – we had to storm the castle with pom poms launched from our homemade catapult.
For me, the fun part was being able to weave some history lessons into play time. Instead of trying to come up with something to keep her attention, the Kiwi Crate took care of that for me, and I could focus on what I love – the weaving of history into playtime.

Holiday Gift Guide: Animal Trackers
I have really had a fun time this year trying out different subscription services on the kids. We’ve found one for Princess R that is just perfect, and now I believe we’ve found the perfect box for Little Prince.This boy loves playing pretend, dressing up, and getting hands on with everything. Animal Trackers combines all of that into one box. Plus it all comes in an old fashioned tin lunchbox. I love it so much, and so do the kids.
Every month you get a new set of activities to learn about a different animal. The first set is more of an overview, with activities like animal matching, sticker scenes, and a ring to hold all the animal tracks you get.
We also got the Zebra pack. Prince L was kept entertained for a long time with the Magic Nuudles Zebra. A little water, and the nuudles stick to the paper with no mess! Not only was it fun. but I was impressed at his color recognition, in matching the white and black nuudles to the stripes.
All the kids got in on playing the matching game. I encouraged them to make the different animal sounds when they made a match. Anyone know what sound a hippo makes though??
Princess R took over the Zebra mask, but that was OK with Prince L since he didn’t care for anything in his face. It worked perfect to add to her Zecoura Halloween Costume as well.
Isn’t that fun?? The Animal Trackers have a whole set of masks to go with each pack. They are really well made too which had me impressed, and the kids having a blast.
The Animal Trackers Subscription would make a great gift to any young child this Christmas season.
Make sure you check out all the other fun ideas in our Holiday Gift Guide.Follow them on Social MediaI received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Going Green with Conscious Box {Giveaway}
Have you seen this subscription box services? I’m sure they’ve been around for awhile, but I seem to just be learning about them all. I love that you can have new products delivered to your door to try out before buying full size products.
This especially holds true with all natural earth friendly products. I grew up using chemicals for cleaning, and eating processed foods – as I feel most of my generation did. We also seem to be the generation pushing for more natural and earth friendly products. My mom always taught me to be a good steward of the earth, and we often went on trash picking duty around our block. We also canned a lot of our own fruits and veggies, despite the many processed foods we ate. My problem presents itself when I want to buy an all natural product –What if it doesn’t clean as good?What if the taste is bland?What if it’s too expensive, and then I find I don’t like it?It’s hard breaking out of habits, and trying something new, especially when many families are struggling financially. This is where Conscious Box can help! Each month they put together a new Conscious Box full of products from Health and Beauty, to Food and Home. Try all natural cleaning products, healthy snacks, and natural energy boosters. A low monthly cost, and you get to try a myriad of products to see what does and doesn’t work for you. On top of it all, they have Gluten Free and Vegan Boxes to choose from as well.Save 25% OFF any SubscriptionRight now my readers can receive 25% off any subscription to Conscious Box with Code: LOVELIFEWIN IT!One lucky Home Maid Simple can win a 3 Month Subscription to Conscious Box.Enter on Rafflecopter belowOpen to US residents only.
