Beauty Blogger I am Not + a Giveaway

It may be clear at this point that I am no beauty blogger. I love to look for beauty in the world around me, and I appreciate my body and its health. When it comes to things like makeup and fancy hair, though, this is not where you will find helpful info.

Not for lack of trying, of course. I’ve attempted a mud mask, and reading a book on beauty. Unless they have a giveaway attached, though, I usually skip the beauty stuff. So with that in mind, I bring you another Beauty Giveaway!

Periodically I end up with some makeup or other supplies as part of campaigns through groups like Influenster. Sometimes I will give the items a try, to see if maybe I’m missing out on something. Rarely do I keep any of it though. Currently I’ve got a great giveaway I believe you’ll all love, because while I’m not a beauty blogger, I know the majority of women my age wear some sort of makeup and will get more use out of this than I could.
Plus I’d probably put it on wrong and look really really funny.

KISS eyelash and adhesive giveaway. A Beauty Blogger I am not, but beauty giveaways I will run.

When you join Influenster, you have the opportunity to let your voice be heard. No blog is needed, just a desire to share your opinion on products on social media. Have a facebook, twitter, instagram, and want to share about new products? Join today!

  • Refresh your Back to School Routine

Refresh your Back to School Routine

This post is part of the HEALTHY ESSENTIALS 2014 program by Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies, Inc. and The Motherhood, who sent me a box of products and compensated me for my time. Opinions, experiences and photos shared here are all my own, and I hope you enjoy them.

Are your kids back in school yet? We just started back last week, but I am personally going back as well, and start this coming week. With everything going on, I’ve decided I need to have more of a set routine to get my days started out right. Here are some tips for any Mom to help you get your day started out right.

    1. Wake up 1 hour before your kids. This will truly make a difference. Even if you’re “not a morning person” you can become one! Having that extra hour in the morning you will be amazed at what you can get accomplished!  For me, it means having time to actually shower daily. If I don’t get up before the kids, I’m more than likely not going to shower. I admit, though, this is hard. Something I’ve found helps me wake up on those hard days to get going so early, is using Clean & Clear Morning Burst. I love this face wash, and it really does give me that morning burst. Though sometimes I like to switch it up with the Aveeno Positively Radiant Skin Brightening Daily Scrub.

    2. Positive Affirmations! Start your day with some kind of positive affirmation, and you will have a better day. Things still might not go smoothly, but you’ll have a better attitude and can deal with the homework left at home, or missing shoes a whole lot better.

    3. Eat Breakfast. And lunch, and dinner, and drink a lot of water. It doesn’t have to be a big affair, but start the day with something nutritious. Whether it be cinnamon rolls, cereal, or a healthy shake. As my friend over at Our ADHD Story recently said as she’s taking more control of her health “Food is to fuel my body and mind…”. You wouldn’t drive on a long trip without first giving your car gas. So don’t start your day without the fuel needed, and remember to fill up as needed before you run dry. Maybe even indulge halfway through your day with these Raspberry Marbled Mini Cheesecakes.

    4. Go to bed early. This just makes sense if you start getting up earlier as well. This is especially going to help my mind stay alert for the kids as well as my own studies as I go back. I tend to stay up way too late, and then try and get up early, and it just doesn’t work well.

Teva Neta – Natural Skincare and Aromatherapy

I received product for review. All opinions are 100% my own
Teva Neta – Hebrew for Nature’s Plants.  This is exactly what you will find in the etsy shop Teva Neta – 100% Natural ingredients in all their skincare and aromatherapy products.
My journey in living a more natural life slowly began after having kids but it was until lat year when I partnered with Healthy Child Healthy World that I learned quite a bit more about chemicals found in our everyday products and the potential risks many of them have in their ingredients.
Growing up I always just assumed that if we could buy it, it must be safe. I mean really, we wouldn’t be sold stuff that could harm us, or effect our health long term, right?  I tend to be a benefit of the doubt person, and like to believe the best in everyone. But I’m learning. Some products might be “safe” but they’re not the best.
Don’t leave me – but it’s like comparing breast milk to formula. We all know breast milk is best, but formula isn’t bad either – just not the best. I won’t push you to breastfeed, and I won’t push you to use natural products, but I will tell you there are some benefits to using natural products in our everyday life, just like there are extra benefits that come with breastfeeding.
The last time we moved, one of the first people I met and became friends with was Melissa. She was really nice and opened right up to me, pulling me in to our church family, and perhaps without her knowing it, made me feel loved. You may not know it, but in real life I’m pretty reserved and have a hard time “fitting in”.
Melissa is the owner and creator behind Teva Neta. She is also a mother to 5 pretty amazing children who she home schools. Our kids are all about the same age, she just had one extra while I’m sticking to the 4 I’ve got for now.  A couple weeks ago she gave me a tin of her Lavender and Tea Tree Diaper Rash Cream to try out.
Lavender and Tea Tree Diaper Rash Cream
In case you can’t see it very well – here’s a run down on the ingredient list (I’m omitting the scientific names)
    • Shea Butter
    • Virgin Coconut Oil
    • Cocoa Butter
    • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
    • Beeswax
    • Lavender Essential Oil
    • Tea Tree Essential Oil
Hello! I actually know what every single one of those are. Nothing else that’s it. She also sells a Natural Unscented Diaper Rash Cream – I bet you can guess that the ingredients list is just a bit shorter than this one.
Now that I had this cream we had to give it a try. I gave up on store bought diaper rash creams a long time ago – like with my first born. She would get rashes that were just awful, and took a specialized cream a pharmacist gave me…that was only sold at that pharmacy because I believe it was a local product. It’s been a long time, but I’m guessing the ingredients must have been pretty similar to Teva Neta’s.
I’ll refrain for your benefit and my child’s of omitting pictures here – but about a week ago Prince L started getting a rash. His are never terribly awful, but any rash down there is bound to be uncomfortable. So when I noticed it starting I grabbed our new cream, and applied just a small amount – it goes a long way! By the next diaper change I could already see a difference! That’s pretty impressive in my opinion. It normally takes at least a day before I see improvement using my go to Vaseline.

One extra thing I noticed with the Diaper cream is that the fragrance is also very minimal and what I would consider natural. It’s not overpowering like many scented things these days, but is rather subtle and pleasant.

Diaper Rash Cream is not the only thing Melissa sells at Teva Neta though. Just check out all these natural products you can get!
