Be your own Florist with Bloominous

*This post is sponsored. Compensation was received. All opinions are 100% my own*

When I was in high school I had dreams of being a florist, and owning my own little flower shop. Arranging flowers to make homes a little brighter would have been a dream job. One day I might still open that shop. In the meantime though, I came across Bloominous, an online DIY flower shop.

I’ve never heard of anything like it before. With Bloominous you order the kits you want, from boutonnieres to center pieces – then the kit is shipped overnight and you get to put them all together yourself.

Bloominous has different kits to make any event, from weddings to holiday parties to even a simple table centerpiece, special! Each kit is curated to fit in with current trends from Eco Chic to Enchanted Elegance.

I think the next party I throw will need to have these Succulent Favors (and at only $5 each, that’s a steal!) from the Eco Chic collection. I can see them complimenting a holiday table as mini Christmas “trees” that the guests can then take home.

I feel like Bloominous just made my dream of floral arranging come a little closer. Maybe I don’t need to own a little shop. But having the tools to just arrange flowers for my home and events would be so much fun.

DIY sneak peek and Menu Plan

I’ve got some pretty sweet kids, I tell you. This morning they came running to me with a bunch of flowers

“For you Mommy! We forgot to pick them for Mothers Day.”

I have no idea what kind of flowers these are. I originally thought they were weeds and had pulled half of them out around our big tree. Before I got back out to the rest though, they started blooming these pretty flowers. Any flower experts want to tell me their name, and if they are indeed just a pretty weed?
I’ve got a lot going on this week, so I hope you’re all ready for it!  I’m kicking off a week of Fathers Day gift Ideas tomorrow, and behind the scenes will be working on a couple more DIY projects for future sharing. On top of it all, we’re still working our tail ends off on the Master Suite Remodel

  • Flowers…for me?

    Flowers…for me?

Part of Mark’s new job, is also teaching the drama class. Although it’s not what he went to school for, he did work for a local theater production for many years, and knows what he is doing.  Last week they put on Little Shop of Horrors.

A quick summary if you’ve never heard of this musical:

    • An orphan boy was taken in by a flower shop owner. They live on Skid Row, where life is hard, and no one amounts to much. It’s basically the slums.
    • Seymour, the orphan boy finds a strange looking plant, and brings it into the shop. He finds the only food that makes it grow is blood.
    • The plant grows into a man eating giant human trap.

The kids did so good! I know they all worked hard, and I was very excited to see the production. This was Mark’s first theater performance with him as director as well. I couldn’t be more proud of him.

What I wasn’t expecting, however, was to get flowers. After the curtain fell, and bows were given, they called Mark and “his wife” on stage. They had this beautiful flower arrangement for me (no worries, I checked for man eating plants in it, and I think we’re safe).

In Mark’s 2 previous years of teaching band, I’ve never been called on stage before. I think I like this drama thing. Though someone remind me, wear something nicer than running pants and a tshirt for all future events….

On another note though, Congrats NS High students! You put together a great play, and you all did so well.  You should be very proud of yourselves.

  • May After – The Yard

    May After – The Yard

Well we did it, we got sod laid down in our backyard.  It’s so much nicer and easier to take the kids out back, or even just open the door and let them run.  I no longer have to worry that they’ll come in with dirt all over their heads, because let’s face it throwing dirt in the air is the funnest (hint of sarcasm here).
Unfortunately you can tell we did this ourselves and on a limited budget.  We tried to flatten the ground as best we could, but it’s still pretty bumpy.  It’s also dieing in some spots, so we’ll be headed out for some grass feed this weekend to try and save it.  I think we’ll also need to readjust our sprinklers to make sure they reach this spot.
On a happier note, Mark bought me flowers and tomato plants for mothers day. and they are looking good!
The tomatos are starting to flower now too! I’m pretty excited for another good tomato year (so far they’re my most successful plant)

The kids love the flowers too!

    Wordless Wednesday – Flowers

For Mothers Day, Mark bought me some flowers to plant! I love the pop of color our walkway now has.

At church they gave all the moms a long stemmed Rose and some chocolate turtles. Isn’t it beautiful? Over a week, and it still looks pretty!

  • SaveMore Deal on Vases

    Clear Flowers Vase
It seems everywhere I look these days there is a new deal site popping up.  There’s totsy, zulilly, groupon and more.  Have you seen the deal site  Savemore ?  I haven’t actually found a site I really liked, or a deal I just had to have yet. My friend told me about Savemore though, and I thought I’d give it a try. Until today, none of the deals were very appealing to me, or were at a price I could afford even with the deal.  Today though, I just had to share this deal with you!
You can get 2 vases from The Vase Store for $6. Each vase is normally $6 so you are getting 2 for the price of one. Or you can get 6 for $14.  Not only are these vases cute, but they are collapsible! You really don’t want to see all the room my vases take up. Having a collapsible vase would save so much space in my cupboard!  The Vase Store makes there vases out of durable plastic. You just add the water to expand them, and it holds them down. When you’re ready to put them away, just rinse with soap and water, let air dry, and fold away.
Plus, these things are going to be unbreakable! Ok, I’m sure they can break, but if my children knock them off a table, I’m not going to be worried about glass shards lining the floor, and worrying if I missed any little pieces. Another plus to these very cool vases!
Now personally I don’t really need another vase in this house, but I could get rid of some of my older vases, and replace them with these. Plus I think they are going to make some very nice Christmas gifts to my mom friends!  Head on over to SaveMore to get this deal!
(Did I mention the free shipping? Whether you buy the 2 or the 6 you also get free shipping!!! Now that is a deal that can’t be beat!)

    Flowers!

There’s not much that can top fresh flower in the home.  All I can think of is happy kids and husband, and a clean home.  Flowers really pull things together and just beautify the home, don’t you think so?
I felt so especially lucky yesterday when I won Heavenly Savings 1-800-Flowers Giveaway.  They arrived today, and I am loving them!!!
