  • A Billion Entrepreneurs the Movie

*This post is sponsored by ABEthemovie through Business 2 Blogger. Opinions are my own*

Have you ever wanted to start your own business? Tired of working for others, or not happy with any career you’ve had?  Maybe you’ve been laid off, and haven’t been able to get back on your feet.
A Billion Entrepreneurs the movie is all about taking life into your own hands. You define your Freedom, Security, and Success!
How would I describe these things?
Freedom – the ability to do what I want, when I want, and be happy doing it.
Security – Not worrying if we can afford milk. Knowing that a well balanced meal will always be on the table.
Success – A happy family as well as making those we interact with happy.
Currently this blog has met my definition for Freedom and Success. Although it doesn’t provide entire security since it is more a hobby, it has afforded us an extra sense of security.  Home Maid Simple has been my introduction to Entrepreneurship. As I learn the ropes of engaging with you my readers, and develop ways to bring a little extra security to my family, I have found happiness and a sense of self that I was losing in the midst of PPD.
One thing Mark and I love to do is sit and dream of different businesses we’d love to run. Although we can’t do them all, because there’s only 2 of us, but one day we will land on exactly what we want to do that will define our freedom, security and success. This year we’ve decided to work on 2 of them. Together we are developing a product – I’ll let you know when it’s finished – and I am working on writing a cookbook.
These are things I personally never thought possible for me. They were dreams for someone else, but surely not ones I could achieve. I’ve learned though, and that’s what I love about the A Billion Entrepreneurs movie, is that it is going to inspire so many people to go out and dream. To define their life the way they want to.

  • Where Ever We Go We’ll Make it a Home

Where Ever We Go We’ll Make it a Home

This post has been in the works for a few weeks now. At first I was a little too emotional to talk about it. Then I felt it should wait until Mark’s current (at the time) contract was up. I’m past the emotion, and his contract is up. So here it is…
Mark resigned from teaching band at the local high school. He finished out the school year, but we are now looking for a job elsewhere.
My initial reaction was to look at every school close to where we live. I DID NOT want to move. We just bought our house last year. We have put a ton of work into making it our home. We’ve dealt with flooding, termites and a kitchen remodel. We love the neighborhood. We have some great friends, and the kids love it here too.
When it became clear there weren’t really any jobs nearby, I got myself ready for the idea of moving. I began looking at our home and what needs to be done to sell and not lose money on the home. You can expect many posts in the near future on prepping your home to sell.

You could say that I am actually pretty excited about moving now. Yes I will miss this home, and our community here, but I am ready for another adventure. We’ve applied all over the country, and have had many interviews the past two weeks.  We will continue to apply and interview until a job is offered.
The funnest part for me, is that I don’t have to interview. I just get to send Mark off to do that, while I browse house listings in the area. Since most schools start in August, we will have to be ready to move mid to end July and I want to know the areas and what’s available to us. I’ve been using Zillow’s Ipad App to check out listings. I really love their App (the website could use a little help though). You type in the area you are looking to live, and a map pops up with little houses scattered across it. You can edit the price range, sq footage, bedrooms, etc to get just the listings you’re interested in.

No matter where we end up, we will make it our home.
I’m taking guesses on where we’ll end up. We’ve pretty much applied across the country, so guess away. Will we find something close enough to commute, or will we move across the country?
*Incase you’re wondering this is not a sponsored post. I like Zillow a whole lot, and it just happened to work it’s way into this post 🙂 If you’re looking for a home, I suggest you check it out, but I’m not being compensated for it at all.
