    Saturday Social!

Oh man, it’s saturday already!  We’ve got lots going on here.  We are outside having a yard sale trying to get rid of all this JUNK!  Once it’s gone I’ll feel so much more like we’ve actually moved into a home and not a big closet!  I’ve got this great story to share with you all today.

When we first moved in, we didn’t have a kitchen table.  We’d been using our desk as our table and the card table as our desk in the apartment.  Now that we owned a home, I wanted a real table.  So last saturday morning we went on a hunt.  First place we stopped was a storage unit auction.   I had never been to one of these before, so I didn’t know what to expect.  We found the perfect table!  Oh so perfect! Then we found we had to buy everything in the unit with it, and clean it out that day.  So a couple hours later and it’s all sitting on the side of our house.  We definitely found some interesting items, including the cremated remains of somebody.  In case you ever need to know, if you have this same situation, you call the police and they book it as evidence.

So finally today, we’re getting it sold, gone, out of here!  I feel like I can breathe in the house again!

Isn’t this the perfect table!!  It was definitely worth all the other junk.

    Tuesday Tips

This is going to be fun!  Every tuesday I want to start sharing household tips.  Whether it be cleaning, organizing, or exercising.  I was sitting around during the week, just thinking about life in general.  That happens periodically.  When the thought came to me…vacuum the kitchen!  Now before you think I’m crazy, I don’t mean the whole kitchen.  There are vacuum’s out there that have a hard surface setting, and work great.  My vacuum actually has that setting, but I’ve only used in a quick pinch and usually just over the edge of the carpet.  So here is where my tip comes in.  What’s the hardest place you find to clean on your kitchen floor?  For me it is between the fridge and the counter and the corners under the cupboards.
I always think I’ve swept it good enough, but then I mop and my rag comes out covered in crumbs.  I hate crumbs on my mopping rag!  From now on, I will always run the vacuum hose into the corner before mopping.  It makes so much sense, I don’t know why I didn’t think of it sooner!  I’d love to hear any tips you have!

Simplify in the Kitchen with a Bread Maker

What tools make cooking simpler for you?  Do you have a favorite kitchen gadget you can’t live without?  How about the most useless tool in your kitchen?  Maybe something you like to use, but takes up way too much space?

I love the kitchen, it’s probably my favorite room in any given house.  I do not like the kitchen I am in now.  It is small, cramped and makes it hard to get the whole family in there cooking up a good time.

2010 brought with it my new favorite kitchen gadget – the Breadmaker.  For Christmas 2009 my mom got me the Breadman Breadmaker.  I thought it was cool, but at the time I still really enjoyed getting my hands in the dough and letting the kids help me make the bread.  So I didn’t use it a whole lot.  Then we moved here…

I still love cooking, and being in the kitchen, it’s just become a lot harder to do the big fun stuff.
    Enter stage left…..
My Breadman Bread Maker (affiliate link).  Yes, it takes up one of the few counter spaces I have, but it opened up the time to play with kids, and do more cleaning.  Gosh, I love this thing.  (we loved it so much, we bought mom a bread maker this last Christmas!)

This thing does everything from beginning to end.  Kneading, rising and baking.  But it doesn’t end there.  You can have it just knead the bread, then you make it into rolls, pitas, cinnamon buns and cook in the oven.  Or make some homemade jelly in it!!!

Here’s the latest and greatest from our beloved Bread Maker
mmmm clover leaf white rolls.  Dinner’s going to be good tonight!!

Don’t tell but two rolls have already gone missing…..
