Sorry if you all missed me last week. I was out in the wilds of Yellowstone enjoying some camping, hiking, and no technology interruptions. We didn’t even get cell service, it was bliss! But I’m back, and excited to share some awesome photos of our trip with you!

Sentimental Sunday – Nature
This guy walked right past my open car window, inches from my face. I was a little too chicken to snap a picture with him so close, in case he decided to charge. We took a hike down some metal staircase to this beautiful waterfall with a rainbow. I had a hard time with the height of the stairs and the fact I could see straight through them and to the cliffs below me. I will fully admit that I have an irrational fear of heightsOf course we had to stop by Old Faithful. It was pretty cool!In the Norris Geyser Basin we saw some wolf tracks.Roaring Mountain sounded cooler than it looked. It’s supposed to be a bunch of geysers up the mountain side, but when we stopped by only one was giving off any steam. The elk were all over Mammoth Hot Springs. We were going to hike up to the Springs after lunch here, but wind and rain blew in, and I didn’t want to risk it with the Princesses.Pondering back on this amazing trip, I feel so blessed to have seen so much of God’s work untouched by human hands. It was quite the experience to drive by so close to the Bison and elk. We saw some deer from a distance, and of course those wolf tracks. Thankfully we didn’t come across any of the bears that live in Yellowstone. Unfortunately while we were there a man was mauled by a Grizzly when he and his wife were hiking. Unfortunately he didn’t make it, but his wife did. The park rangers were frequently coming by the campsite to remind us of the safety measures to stay safe.If you ever get the chance to visit Yellowstone, I would strongly encourage you to find some time to sit and ponder on the “beauty of the earth.“ -

Sentimental Sunday – letter to my oven
Do you love to cook? I love to cook. Even in the hottest days of summer, I still love to turn the oven on and cook up something yummy. Earlier this week, I got the Princess’ help in baking some banana bread. 5 hours after putting it in the oven, it still wasn’t cooked through. I couldn’t understand it. Why wasn’t my yummy bread baking?! Everyone said it must be the oven. I denied it, no way could my oven die on me. I checked, it was on. I even felt some heat from it. Probably not enough heat though.
I decided today to give it another chance. I mean I really want to eat some baked golden potatoes with butter and salt and pepper with our dinner tonight.About 30 minutes ago I started preheating the oven. It’s still preheating. Good thing we have a grill, so I can just grill these potatoes up. In fact it’s a good thing we have a lot of things to cook with-3 of 4 burners get hot enough to boil water– we have a grill– a slow cooker– a bread machine (mmm, fresh bread that doesn’t need the oven!)Goodbye Oven. I don’t think we’ll be using again. Perhaps we’ll find a replacement part, but it looks like we’ll have to give you up. You were good to us these last 3 months. Thank you for the yummy meals!

Sentimental Sunday – Happy Fathers Day!
I love fathers day. The special opportunity to show my dad and my husband what wonderful fathers I think they are.
To my dad,
I love you so much. You taught me how to be strong, and always faithful. I have so many fond memories of our special times together. I remember getting a daddy date and watching a movie, just the two of us (I don’t remember the movie, just that I got you to myself). Then getting up early one morning to go to the dairy farm with you. So many summers spent in your classroom setting up and taking down wall displays. When I was in college, I fondly remember driving between home and school while you tried to teach me some dutch. I wish I could remember some, but the time spent meant the world to me. Now that I have my own kids, I love seeing their smiles as you threaten to eat their toes, or send a spider up their leg.
Thank you dad for the many nights you got up to give me a fathers blessing. For being a strong priesthood holder who I always could and still count on for advice and love. I’m so glad I get to be your daughter forever!
All my love
AdelinaTo My Husband,I am so glad we met, and that you fell in love with me so quickly. Thank you for always being by my side. We’ve had our highs and lows, but I believe everything has made us stronger as couple. I can’t imagine life without you, or what I was even doing before I met you. You have a sense of honor that I just love, my true knight in shining armor.
You are such an amazing dad to our Princess’. Upon waking up each morning, their first question is usually “Where’s dad?” I hope that never changes. I hope you can feel their love as much as I see it every day. They truly are “Daddy’s girls”.
Thank you for all you do for our little family in providing for us, and leading our home.
Sprinkle All My Kisses on your head,
Adelina -

Looking back
As I sit here this morning, I can’t help but reminisce about my life. I’ve lived a good 25 years thus far, and plan on living for many more years. In my lifetime, I’ve been blessed with many things. The most important to me though, is family.I was “born of goodly parents“Aren’t I cute?My parents raised me well. They taught me the importance of love, compassion, service, and church. They taught me many lessons growing up, and I will always be grateful for that.I grew up with 3 brothers and 2 sisters, who I love dearly. We were a normal family, with sibling fights, but we still love each other and move past our disagreements. I had the great opportunity to run a 5K with my2 sisters yesterday for my birthday. I had so much fun just spending that time with my sistersThe family unit is so very important to me. My parents taught me this as we sat down to a family dinner every night, and breakfast most mornings. Thanks to the love of my family growing up, I was able to meet and marry a wonderful man, and create a family with him. I hope to instill in my family the same love my parents taught and showed me. I want my Princess’ to be able to “run a race” together when they are older and have gone different directions in their life. This is the love of my life. Mark, I am so thankful you’re mine!No matter what my children are doing – sleeping, playing, or making a mess, I will always love them. I only hope I can be as good a parent as mine were and still are to me and my siblings.I’m linking up to -
Sentimental Sunday – Books
Today I’m feeling quite sentimental about books. I can’t remember a time of my life that books weren’t a part of it. Some of my very early childhood favorites were Cindy Czekeres Counting Book 1 to 10 (which I still own!), and Earrings.
From there it turned into my mom reading us chapter books like Little House On the PrairieAnd my dad reading us The Chronicles of PrydainSo of course with my own children I have been reading to them. I love finding new books, but also reading the classics. Most nights I give the girls some books to look at in bed until they fall asleep.
This morning, I had to wake Princess C up for an early church meeting. I sat on the edge of her bed, and oh my goodness! She had taken our Childrens Classic Peter Pan book to bed with her.
Of course I wouldn’t have minded except that she had torn about 20 pages out, and had them in a pile by her. I wanted to cry. A classic, and there was no way to save it. So I woke up Princess C, and tried very gently asking her why she tore out these pages. In her own words
“I saw Peter Pan, and Wendy, and Tinkerbell”
Of course. I’d pull pages out of a book too, if I’d seen Peter Pan! I couldn’t be mad at her, but from now on, she’ll only get board books at bedtime.
Now the question was what to do with the book. I’ve seen these Book Wreaths all over the place and have really wanted one. Of course there was no way I was ever going to tear up a perfectly good book just to make a wreath. Turns out I didn’t need to. Once we got home from church I browsed around for a good tutorial. Besides, a great tutorial, I found a great new blog too!
Then on to making the wreath! The book in it’s destroyed form :'(
I started out tracing my 2 plates, and then cutting them out. The inner circle was a bit harder to cut out.
Then we started rolling the pages into cones.
Once they were rolled, I started gluing them on to the home made wreath. I should have placed them first, but I wasn’t thinking, so I had a lot of “holes”. Thankfully a second layer covered that up! I added a finishing touch, by gluing the book cover to the back, so we can see Peter and Wendy in the center. Then I attached some ribbon, and hung it in Princess V’s room.
She’s really excited to have this in her room.
While I was over at Sit Relax and Read, I found she does a weekly link up called Sentimental Sunday. I’ve been looking for some good topic to post about each week and was thrilled to find this link up.
