How to Minimize Stress with Paperless Coupons

There are so many things in life that can cause us stress. Finances, kids, employment, family, school – you name it and it has probably added stress to your life in one way or another. For me, clipping coupons was just packed full of stress, so I avoided it. Honestly the idea of buying a bunch of papers to get coupons that I then have to match up to store ads to find the best price at the best store – it’s stressful all around! I just don’t need that kind of stress in my life. I like the idea of saving money, just not the time it takes. So I was pretty stoked when someone told me Walgreens has paperless coupons.

    What is a paperless coupon?
Paperless coupons are just that – paperless! All you need is a smart phone and a Balance Rewards Card at Walgreens. You will download the free Walgreens app to your phone, and then sync it to your rewards card. Once you are logged in with your rewards card you can clip manufacturer ecoupons. When you clip them, they get loaded directly onto your Balance Rewards Card. Now the really cool part is when you go to the store. You can use your actual card, type in your phone number, OR the cashier can just scan your phone! Isn’t that just neat?

How do Paperless Coupons minimize stress?
I know you’re wondering. It sounds fun, but does it really minimize stress? You bet it does! Let me tell you 3 ways it has minimized stress in my life.

Money. Now this seems pretty obvious. Coupons save you money. When you save money, you stress over finances less. When you stress less over finances, there will be less stress in your marriage. I would venture to say the #1 cause of stress in a marriage. I know it usually is in ours. Especially now as we get ready to move 900 miles away. It’s crazy expensive to move, so we’ve got to find creative ways to cut our outgoing money down. Trying to clip coupons the old fashioned way, just rearranges where the stress is coming from. Paperless coupons minimize the stress completely! Not only does is help with the stress, but with paperless coupons you don’t have to buy a newspaper just to get the coupons. Saving you even more money.

Time. How much time do you spend clipping paper coupons each week? Now imagine that the whole process takes less than 5 minutes. Did you just sigh out loud? I sure did! When you’ve been given a week to move, and 2 of those days need to be spent actually driving to your new home, you really need every spare moment you can get. Spending the time clipping coupons is not what you want to do. Whether you’re moving like us or not – your time is valuable! Don’t waste it on trying to save every last penny, and instead go play hide and seek with the kids for a couple of hours, or in my current state – pack 5 more boxes.

Sanity. Yep, Paperless coupons have totally saved my sanity this week. My awesome kids were looking at a week of freeze dried strawberries and apple slices, because I didn’t think we could afford other snacks and the time it would take to get them at the right price. I found a great ecoupon for Gerber Graduates Grabbers, and General Mills cereals so my kids can now snack on a little more variety and not complain about the same thing over and over again. To help even more with my stress, I put the cereal in these handy to go containers.

    #WalgreensPaperless #shop #cbias

Isn’t that great? Now instead of spending my time, money and sanity trying to save us money, I can do what needs to be done for our move, like you know staying up all night packing for the next 4 days. Thank goodness there was a coupon for Dasani Sparkling Water – it’s going to be my late night stay awake drink.

    12. Meanwhile, mix cream cheese, Splenda, and Lemon Juice.
    13. Slowly mix in the egg.
    14. Scoop 1/2 cup cheesecake mix on top of the cookie crusts.
    15. Whip the raspberry preserves until less jelly like, and more liquid like.
    16. Add one tsp raspberry preserves to the top of each cheesecake. Swirl around with a toothpick to get a marbled look.
    17. Bake in your 300 F oven for 40 minutes.
    18. Let cool, then top with whipped cream and fresh raspberries.

  • Cranberry Naturals Review and Giveaway

    Cranberry Naturals Review and Giveaway

I love Cranberry Juice. Growing up, I loathed it. I cringed opening the fridge and seeing the Cranberry Juice, because it meant someone was sick, and everyone would be drinking it until the sickness was gone.  To my young tastebuds, Cranberry Juice was very bitter.
Then one day I married Mark, and he LOVED cranberry juice, drinking close to 1 glass a day. So I looked into Cranberry Juice more, and started slowly adding it to my diet (not diet diet, just the normal foods I would eat).  Overtime I was able to overcome the bad childhood memories of cranberry juice, and actually enjoy it.  I think the biggest problem was that when you have a cold, it magnifies the bitter taste.  I still can’t drink cranberry juice when I’m sick.
I was thrilled to have the opportunity to review some of Old Orchards Cranberry Naturals.  Here’s a few fun facts about this awesome drink:
     – It has 2X the cranberry juice of leading “diet” juices
     – 40% less sugar than other brands, and naturally sweetend with Truvia and just a touch of sugar
     – NO artificial flavors or preservatives
Can it get any better?  Besides Cranberry Juice already having tons of health benefits, Old Orchard has made Cranberry Juice healthier by cutting back their sugar and loading it with more of the actual fruits juice!
Now being the holidays are here, and the cold weather has come to stay, I had to try something a little new with Cranberry Naturals.  I decided to make my own Wassail, completely experimental with no recipe to guide me (I LOVE recipes and rarely venture away from them).  Oh, and if you’re wondering what Wassail is, it’s like Hot Apple Cider, but has more fruits and spices in it. One of my favorite Christmas Carols is Here We Come A Wassailing, although some sing it as Here We Come A Caroling. That is the only word that has been changed. Not sure why, but there’s a little Christmas fact for you!
Right back to my Wassail.  I made it up last night, and it was so delicious! The kids loved watching it simmer, and enjoyed drinking it as well.
    Home Maid Simple’s Cranberry Wassail
    Ingredients:
64 oz Old Orchard Cranberry Naturals Original
6 oz Old Orchard Frozen Apple Concentrate
1 Gala Apple, peeled, cored and sliced
    1 Orange, juiced
    1 Orange, sliced
    2 Cinnamon sticks
    1/2 tsp Allspice
    Directions:
In a large pot, mix all ingredients together. Bring to a boil. Once boiling, let simmer about 20 minutes. Serve warm.  You can either pull the fruit pieces out, or enjoy with the wassail. The kids escpecially had fun seeing apples and oranges inside their drinks. For large holiday parties, I suggest doubling the recipe.  Enjoy!
Guess what?! I have a giveaway for you!!!  Old Orchard is giving away coupons for FREE Cranberry Naturals to 5 of my lucky readers!  Each winner will receive 2 coupons for FREE Cranberry Naturals as well as 2 $.50 cents off coupons!  That’s 4 coupons each for 5 Winners!!

  • Shopping Trip

    Shopping Trip

Whoo, I was a little worried about this mornings shopping trip.  I had all 3 kids, and I wanted to go to a couple different stores.  I’ve never done the multiple stores shopping before.  My kids barely can make it through one store without a meltdown from either them or me. I spent naptime yesterday going through Sunday coupons and ads, and making a meal plan for the week.
    Here is what we got!
I spent $35 on all this plus some produce (onion, pepper, and broccoli).
That still seems like a lot to me, looking at all this (compared to what I’ve seen some get). But then I looked at my savings.  Normally, all this would’ve cost me about $50.  I’d say that’s a pretty good savings.  And just to add more perspective, last week I spent $58 and didn’t use any coupons.
Now I have a question for you.  I keep getting these coupons for Farmland Deli Meats.  But I can’t seem to find who sells them.  If I could’ve used that coupon, I would’ve saved even more, and been able to get more than just one package of meat.  So who sells Farmland Deli Meats? Anyone know?
  • Couponchief.com Review

I was so excited last week when Couponchief.com contacted me last week to review their website.  Since I decided to start couponing this year, I’ve been looking for all different types of websites.  Most have very similar coupons – manufacturers that you print and take the store.  That is where Coupon Chief is unique.  All the coupons on Coupon Chief are for online products and services.  In this age of technology and busy schedules, many people have started shopping more online for even the basic needs.
Here is a list of things Coupon Chief offers –
    1. Free to join and submit coupon codes
    2. Pays-2-Share program pays YOU when coupons you submit are used*
    3. Over 50,000 coupons to over 15000 stores
    4. Easy to search for specific stores or products
    5. Coupon clipping made easy with one click access to store.
I have been using Couponchief.com for a week now, and have thoroughly enjoyed it.  I personally don’t do a lot of online shopping (although diapers.com has me considering it more), but I get emails and flyers with coupons codes all the time!  I hated throwing the flyers away and deleting the email knowing there were plenty of people out there that could use it.  Now I have an easy place to share these codes, and get paid to do it too!
It is my belief that everything has room for improvement.  Couponchief.com does not miss the mark in that belief, but from my experience, there is not much it needs to change.  When you click on a coupon, it pops up a handy bubble “Did this coupon Work for you?”  It only gives you two options, yes or no.  There have been many I’ve clicked on that I ended up not even using the coupon, because I didn’t buy anything.  I think adding that third option in would help make their stats more accurate when calculating how effective the coupon was. Last I would add in the personal profile.  You can see the coupons you’ve uploaded, but you can’t click on them.  So if you want to use a coupon that you had uploaded, you have to search for it, and then go through the many coupons similar to find yours.  Not impossible, but it could be made easier.
*Pays-2-Share program does not work with all coupons submitted.  Select stores have partnered with Couponchief.com to give back to members submitting coupons. When submitting a coupon the site will tell you if it is a pays-2-share participant.
**I was compensated for this review.  All opinions are my own from personal experience using Couponchief.com.  My opinions were not influenced in any way by this compensation.  I strive to bring my readers knowledge based on personal experience.
