    Fashion Friday Fall Essentials

It’s not often I feel completely put together, but today was one of those days. It was freezing cold outside, as we were bracing for an incoming winter storm. My only plans on going out were to drop the kids off at school, and pick them up. No real need to dress up.
It started as a simple decision to toss on my Stars and Stripes scarf from Cents of Style. Then as I was grabbing my flip flops it hit.
    Boots.
Soft, pretty, cute boots. These particular ones are the Rory Gray Heel Buckle Boot from Cents of Style. Now I feel like I could fit in with Rory and Lorelai, all fashionable and smart and witty.

I can easily say this is my best fashionable purchase ever!  They’re cute, stylish, and do a wonderful job at keeping my feet and legs warm during the fall months.

We were leaving a little early to school, and I thought to myself, the only thing that would make this outfit complete, is a cute hat. And what do you know Cents of Style has their winter hats on sale today, plus I’ve got a code for you.

    Use Code 50HATS
    How cute is this?

Brrr, is it cold where you are?  We’ve got snow in the mountains here, but it’s still that perfect fall weather. Not too hot, and not too cold. Perfect weather for a pretty and fashionable scarf!

Unfortunately I haven’t quite figured out how to tie a scarf so it looks pretty, but I’m really good at draping them . Then I did a little browsing this morning on pinterest, and found this awesome website all about scarves.
They have over 40 different ways to tie a scarf, with some video and picture tutorials as well. You all know what a visual learner I am, so I need those to learn these right.
So are you in the market for a new scarf this fall?  I have the deal for you! Cents of Style is having a sale this weekend on their Chevron Infinity Scarf.

    Family Fun at CornBelly’s

*I received tickets to CornBelly’s to facilitate this review. All opinions and fun times are my own*

Family Fun Time!  Last Friday I braved the sudden cold weather and took the kids to CornBelly’s Corn Maze and Pumpkin Fest.  I sent Mark off to watch a football game with the guys, and then I picked up my sister to come with me and the kids. What a BLAST!!

Check out all the fun we had, and then enter to win 2 Screamin’ Passes to CornBelly’s at the bottom of the post.
There are so many fun attractions at CornBelly’s. I wasn’t sure where to begin, so we just followed the kids for a bit. What kid can resist big bouncy blow up toys? None that I know of.
    Picture
The Jumbo Jumper Pillow looked like fun, but with the ages of my kids I contained them to the bounce houses.  Call me paranoid, but I didn’t want to start off our fun with an injury.
Princess Playland was an obvious hit with my 3 Princesses. Aunt A kept an eye on Princess R for me, because she was like a kid in a candy store – here, there, over here, that, FUN!
The Princesses loved dressing up and waltzing across the Princess Playland stage. It was made more special when they got to meet the Pumpkin Princess and she helped pick out dresses for them.

Once I pulled the kids away from the Princess party, we decided we should grab some food. I knew the kids would enjoy the hot dogs, but my sister and I went for some warm soup.

Oh my word, this was some really good Corn Chowder!
Finally we headed over to the corn maze! A 12 acre maze of corn featuring the BYU – UofU rivalry.  12 Acre’s is A LOT of corn. We headed in on the BYU side, but quickly found we wouldn’t make it far with our double stroller. I know the older girls would have made it through, but I needed the stroller for the other two, but we encountered a bridge that had to be crossed.
That was a little disappointing, but we found plenty of other fun things to do still – like the cow train (and there is a 5 minute maze easy for kids of all ages).

    and the duck races!
    and horse races!
Looking back I wish I’d bought the Bounce Pack passes as we left, but I wasn’t sure it would fit in our school and work schedule again. I think we could have and should have made room though, since we hardly scraped the surface of everything CornBelly’s has to offer.
Follow CornBelly’s on Facebook to keep up with special events this fall.
    GIVEAWAY
2 Screamin’ Passes to CornBelly’s at Thanksgiving Point
Screamin’ passes include all 40 main attractions, the 12 acre corn maze, and entry into Insanity point.
Insanity point is recommended for ages 12+

-Giveaway is open to Utah residents age 18+ or those able to visit CornBelly’s at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi before Nov 2nd. This will be verified before tickets are sent.

    CornBelly’s at Thanksgiving Point

Fall is here! This is my absolute favorite time of year. We seem to spend more time outdoors in the cool fall weather than we do any other time of year here.

I am especially excited to visit Cornbelly’s Corn Maze and Pumpkin Fest at Thanksgiving Point this year.

That’s right, this year the maze design is a tribute to the biggest Utah Football rivalry – BYU vs UofU. It’s all in good fun people. I personally won’t choose a side…until the play USU, and then I’m an Aggie all the way.

Well, slightly, while Mark is hanging with some friends from church watching the BYU vs USU game (and rooting for the Aggies), I’m heading over to Cornbelly’s with the kids to check out the 12 acre maze, kids maze, take some hay rides, and look at many many pumpkins. We might even jump in a big pit of corn. For you older folks and teens seeking a thrill, there is also a Haunted House…which I’ll personally be skipping out on since I’d rather not give the kids nightmares.

Sounds like fun right?!  For those local to Thanksgiving Point,  or planning a visit to Utah sometime this fall, you can get $2 off  your admission here.  The fun opens this Friday October 4th and runs through November 2nd.

If you don’t like near Cornbelly’s, or are planning a Utah visit soon, check out this list of other Fall Festivals around the country!

*I have been offered tickets to come check out Cornbelly’s Corn Maze and Pumpkin Fest. All opinions are my own.

  • Home Essentials for the Fall

    Home Essentials for the Fall

Have I told you how much I love fall? yeah, I may have mentioned it a time or two, or three, or every post. I just love this season!! Something about the cool crisp air is just so refreshing, and brings out the ambition in me.

Every home needs these essentials when Fall weather hits

Warm blankets, scattered all around the house. My kids are sleeping with up to 6 blankets each the last few nights.

Great reading materials and a mug of hot cocoa or apple cider

And lastly you need a place to enjoy it all.
I love my couch and huge picture window. On sunny days I enjoy letting the sun shine through and just basking in it’s rays.

I hope you are all enjoying fall, where ever you may be.

    Fall vs Autumn

What do you call it? Is it fall or is it Autumn?
Me, I intermingle the two. Neither of them really sound right to me. I feel if I call it Fall, I’m being laid back, and not educated enough. However, when I say Autumn, I feel like maybe I’m being a bit snooty.
Can’t we find some inbetween name to call this beautiful season?  I’m thinking something like Fling…Ya know because we have Winter and Summer, we should have Spring and Fling.

Ok maybe not. That sounds a bit funny. So here is what I learned on my quest to figure out why the two names for one season.

    • It was originally called Harvest, because it is when the crops are harvested.
    • Around the 16th and 17th centuries, more people began living in cities, so Harvest had less meaning
    • Fall possibly came from the middle english term “Fall of the Leaf”
    • Autumn came from the Latin term autumnus
    • Both Fall and Autumn have origins meaning to fall from a great height.
So basically, our neighbors across the pond like to use their high class Autumn, while us colonizers over here were just content with the simple Fall.

So all this to tell you how much I love this season! Fall, Autumn, or Harvest – whatever you call it, is the best season of the year! It’s this time of year, I dearly miss my beloved New England. The trees out here in the west just don’t compare. I won’t complain too much though. We still get the perfect chill in the air here. Allowing for the season change to bring a change not only outside, but inside the home as well. Blankets are pulled out, fireplaces prepped, and comfort foods planned.
As some take the time to slow down in the spring and smell the flowers, I’m inviting you to slow down and get cozy around your front room with your family.

    Welcome Harvest!

PS I’m totally going to start calling it Harvest now, because I live in a small farming town, and Harvest has meaning here!

    Decorating for Fall {Wordless Wednesday}

    I love Fall/Autumn
I bought my scarecrow girl on sale a couple years ago…to Mark’s head shaking….
The corn we grew ourselves, but when we moved, it got left behind. We went and picked the stalks over the weekend. I love the look!
The Pumpkin came from Princess V’s first ever field trip! We’ll add some more when we go as a family.

Join us tomorrow on Think About it Thursday, as we talk about Fall vs Autumn.
What do you call it? Why the two names? Is there a right term?
