Wrap Bracelets by Tatiana Filippova + a Bracelet Giveaway

I received Wrap Bracelets by Tatiana Filippova for review. All opinions are 100% my honest thoughts.

When you’re a non-jewelry wearing person, it’s a rare but exciting find to come across a piece that you actually enjoy wearing, and is comfortable as well. That is exactly what I found in these wrap bracelets.

I love jewelry, don’t get me wrong, but remember to put it on and then finding a piece that allows me to comfortably do my work and daily activities chasing the kids has been hard to find.

I didn’t get my ears pierced until I was 21, and I still only wear those on occasion. Usually for a date night and some Sundays when I’m not rushing around trying to make sure the kids all have clean clothes on and combed hair.

I gave up wearing bracelets when I was a teen. My biggest pet peeve with bracelets is how most never fit snugly, so simple movements and this pretty bauble would be riding halfway up my arm, or attempting to slide off my hand.

How to wear a Wrap Bracelet. Be stylish and comfortable

Wrap Bracelets don’t do that slidey thing! Now they can, if that’s how you prefer your bracelet, but I like mine to fit snugly on the wrist. I especially love the different colors and well-made bracelets from Tatiana Filippova. She’s got a gorgeous set, and for how much my kids have played with these, they have held up beautifully.

    How to wrap Wrap Bracelets

To put the bracelets on, hold the button between your thumb and pointer with the bracelet hanging down the back of the hand. Begin wrapping it around your wrist. Once you have the fit you like, stop wrapping. Slide the button into one of the 3 provided button holes.

Voila! Now you’ve got a stylish wrap bracelet that you can wear anytime, and anywhere. I’ve tossed mine in my purse a couple times when we were in a rush, and then put it on when we got to our destination. Venice stole it only a few days after I first received mine and wore it to school! Santa may need to bring a couple for stuffing the stockings this year, so the girls stop sneaking off with mine.

Who loves Wrap Bracelets? Wear them with any outfit and feel stylish all the time!

Swimming in Style and a Whimsey Lane Giveaway

I received product for review. All opinions are completely my own.
Whimsey Lane Swimwear. Fashionable, Modest, and lots of fun! (ad)

Nothing says summer like a hot day and a new swimming suit. Add in a crazy busy summer and taking a little time to relax poolside is just what this mama needed. I’m sure if you’re a regular visitor, you’ve noticed a bit more silence around here. Sorry about that – but I moved – and then took a week vacation in South Carolina.

Oh South Carolina! When I first made plans to visit this southern state I saw lazy days by the ocean. Then a month before our trip, the shark attacks began happening. BOO!! So the beach was out. Thankfully there was a fantastic pool at the hotel, and equipped by my friend Julia from Whimsey Lane, I had a fantastic suit to wear!

    Swimming with Whimsey Lane (ad)

One fantastic thing about going on vacation with family, is the 5 extra pairs of eyes and hands to help out with the kids. MAR-VE-LOUS! My anxiety level was greatly decreased thanks to my brothers, sisters and parents all helping out around the pool.

After a good swim I hung out on the side with my Little Prince. The pool was overall too deep for him, so besides the little steps going into it, and sitting on the edge he didn’t have much to do. Just being outside though was enough for him.

Ya’ll I had such a blast, and thanks to my dear friend Julia and her awesome modest swimsuits, even the pool was a good time. She’s got all kinds of styles to choose from, and you can mix and match tops to bottoms like I did. I was a little skeptic on the red bottoms with blue top at first, but I love it. The contrast really makes it more fun to wear.

  • My Anywhere Boots

    My Anywhere Boots

I received product to review. All thoughts are my own.

I am so excited to share my experience wearing Brian James Boots with you today! When I was first browsing the Brian James website, I was immediately drawn to their ankle high boots. Similar to the first pair of boots I ever bought, but not as tall, I knew I wanted to try a pair.
I have found myself waking up and looking for what I can wear that the boots will work with – which has been just about everything. A couple weeks ago at church I wasn’t needed in the nursery so instead of wearing flats, I got to wear my boots to church – oh the love.

Last week after Prince L had been sick, and we had been housebound, we ventured out to the park for the day; again I wore the Smoke Skin Suede boots from Brian James. They didn’t hinder being able to hang out with the kids at all. Prince L was still pretty exhausted though, so we hung out in the shade for awhile.
This is probably one of my favorite photos of the Little Prince and I, and if you’re my fb friend you’ll recognize it as my new profile picture.
The boots made another appearance this last weekend on Date Night, paired with my new pants and shirt from Scheels (Thanks hubby!).
Before grabbing some Sushi and hanging out in the local game store we found, we had a couple errands to run. One included dropping off Princess V’s leotard to the dance studio – and smelling the beautiful flowers.
We finished date night doing our weekly grocery shopping, before heading back home to the kids. The only thing I suggest when ordering Brian James, is if you have wide feet, go a size larger. They’re pretty narrow, and my feet are on the wide side.
    Where do you wear boots?

I began this year deciding it was high time I took a little more care of myself. I needed to find my style. Something a little more than just jeans with holes in the knees and a t-shirt. I’ve found the beauty of accessorizing, adding some color, and clothes that truly fit my body.
One of my favorite places to browse for accessories this year has been Cents of Style. I actually bought my first pair of boots from them last year around this time. Then I got their American Flag scarf, and lately I’ve been eyeing the infinity scarfs and cute hats they’ve got.
Although I oftentimes feel like I was the only female who never really got fashion, just put on whatever without any thought to it, I know there are more of you out there. Perhaps you’re too busy, you don’t think it really matters, your budget is limited, or you put so much into taking care of everyone else it’s just too exhausting to dress yourself up as well.
I want you to know you matter to me. I’ve been there. I’m slowly finding my way out of my fashion rut. It doesn’t actually cost too much to care for yourself. For a couple years I was wearing pants with holes in them because I “didn’t have the money” “they’re still comfy” “No one notices me”. Guess what though, they do notice. If your kids clothes are falling apart, you’d get them some new ones (even second hand), so do it for yourself too.
If you need some inspiration. Or know someone that you want to gift a little fashion to this Christmas, today is the day to do it!  Cents of Style is offering 1 full year subscription to Glamour Magazine and scarf (in 5 different colors) for only $12.95 + Free Shipping – make sure to use Code FASHIONFRIDAY

The scarf is normally $19.95, while the cover price for Glamour is $42. This is an incredible savings, and would make a great stocking stuffer for someone special in your life.

Light Up Your Look and Your Home

This post contains affiliate links. When purchasing through them, you support Home Maid Simple. Thank you!

As I continue to work on Finding my Fashion, I’ve realized it’s similar to decorating the home. So why not match my fashion to my home’s fashion? Or vice versa – match your home’s fashion to your fashion.

I’ve been dreaming of chandeliers in our home, because they are just so gorgeous. They don’t just add light, but they add a whole style to your room. I’ve found a few favorites around Wayfair and Amazon that match some of my favorite jewelry from Cents of Style. Have you ever tried matching your fashion style to your home’s decor?

If you have a room that’s pretty dark, that you want to really light up, I would go for a classic chandelier. One that will really grab the light and spread it through the room. Something like this crystal chandelier.
    Dash 1 Light Crystal Chandelier

To match my style, I’d pair this with Cents of Style’s Tina Necklace set. The large clear jewels will help brighten an old outfit. Cents of Style is often adding and changing their jewelry, so browse around and see what necklace will fit in with your home’s lighting.

What do you do if you have a really bright room though, and you want to tone it down a bit? I love the angles on this light from Amazon. It fits perfectly with a lot of the jewelry I like to wear and really helps give light, but keep it toned down a bit too.
A perfect jewelry accent for this light would be the vintage Napier Triangles Necklace. I could easily see myself wearing this Necklace out on the town with Mark. Simple but with flair that pulls attention right to it’s smooth angles.

When you match your home’s lighting to your favorite piece of jewelry, it adds a pleasing bit to the eye when you have no reason to get all dressed up.
What jewelry would you pair with your home’s lighting? Or would you change up your lighting to match your jewelry?
  • That one time my kids chose my outfits

That one time my kids chose my outfits

A few months ago my family decided to start a family “vlog”. Each week we are required to post a video. Sometimes it’s supposed to be specific, most of the time it’s just whatever we happened to do over the past week.

When we don’t post, we are punished – because when you are part of an awesomely cool family like mine, you can punish each other in good spirits without hurting anyone’s feelings. Take for example my oldest brother. He has vowed never to read The Giver – so when he missed posting a video one week, guess what punishment I doled out? That’s right, my dear brother is now going to read The Giver, and he’s not going to hate me for it.
I was doing good ya’ll, until my computer decided to take 2 hours to upload my video and it posted 15 minutes after the deadline. My baby sister was in charge of punishments that week, and I was given the task of allowing my children to pick my outfits for 4 days in a row. 1 child per day. If you recall I’m working on Finding my Fashion – so this was going to be interesting for sure.
I figured instead of just sharing with my family, I’d let you in on the fun too. Following are the outfits my kids had me wear this week. I think the real punishment in this exercise is learning that some of my children have better style sense than I do, but they could use some photography classes.
    Day 1
Outfit chosen by Princess R – 4 years old
On Monday I sported an old t-shirt from Mark’s years at USU, and a nice comfy pair of Gloria Vanderbilt shorts. Due to time limits that morning, we never got around to picking out jewelry.
    Day 2
Outfit chosen by Prince L – 2 years old
(and Mark because little Prince really didn’t care)
On Tuesday I wore a brown skirt (that I think might be shrinking), a light blue/green undershirt, with a plaid button up my other sister gave me for Christmas last year. Oh and low pig tails in the hair.
    Day 3
Outfit chosen by Princess C – 6 years old
A dress it is! My little black dress. OK maybe it’s an old maternity dress that still fits me nicely because it’s made out of a stretch fabric. Today we also got fancy and put in some big hoop earrings, and wore a hot air balloon necklace. Here’s a little better view of the earrings. I’ll be honest, this was the day I was most worried about. As we looked through my jewelry box, I thought for sure the tiara from my wedding day was going to end up on my head all day long. We got lucky there. Awe, footwear! She knows what I like, and my flip flops were just fine by me to wear (even if these ones need to retire).
    Day 4
    Princess V – 7 years old
Let’s look past me sticking my tongue out, mmkay? This was the best photo taken. At least I’d prefer you see my tongue instead of weird half open eyes.
Truly though, I would love if this girl picked my clothes every day of the week. What a cute fall outfit she chose!
I’m wearing an orange maxi skirt, cute striped shirt, and black bolero.
Wait what’s on my wrist you say? Oh you know, just a blue snowflake bracelet. Don’t you think it matches the blue flip flops nicely? I also wore a beautiful sliver necklace with a prayer box (I think that’s what it is) with an evil eye charm that my mother in law brought back from a trip to Turkey one year.
I KNOW you all want to recreate these styles now, so I’ve put together a collection for you over on Resultly (it’s like pinterest, but makes it easy to buy from!)
Now these aren’t the exact products I’m wearing, because most from my closet are pretty old, but it is the closest I could fin to still create some stunning outfits. You will find an almost exact replica of the Hot Air Balloon necklace on here though.
  • Biblical Beauty by Rachelle Weisberger #Giveaway

Biblical Beauty by Rachelle Weisberger #Giveaway

I love books. So much so that when we moved last week, I sold off most of our furniture, but kept all my books. They filled a good portion of our moving truck, and are all still sitting in boxes in my front room. I just can’t help myself.

See I truly believe that books are important. We learn from them, we open our minds to new ideas with them, and they help our imagination grow. There are many poorly written books out there, but when we seek for the best books, we will gain wisdom.
Recently I read Biblical Beauty: Ancient Secrets and Modern Solutions by Rachelle Weisberger. In my goal of finding my fashion, the title of this book stood out as one that could help me on my journey. I’ve only worn makeup a handful of times in my life, and I just haven’t cared much for my outward appearance. Gosh darn it, people need to look on my inward beauty!
I’ve learned a lot since becoming a mother though, and as I continue to grow as an individual. I can work on my outward appearance without being vain about it, I just needed some guidance. Biblical Beauty helped me get in touch with the spiritual side of outward beauty by taking a look at how women I admire from the Bible would dress and care for their skin and hair.
The last probably 1/3 of the book is devoted to our inward beauty, because Rachelle knows that it’s not just your outward appearance, and it’s not just your inward appearance that matters. The two together make a truly beautiful woman.
If you get a chance, and want some quick beauty tips as well, Biblical Beauty would be a great one to pick up.

  • Fashion Friday: Necklaces

Well, it’s been awhile, but I came across three deals today that I knew I should share with you.  When it comes to jewelry I don’t normally wear a whole lot. Adding a necklace can really give you that extra sense of dressing up, without having to dress up. I love both these personalized necklaces, and love that you can wear them with a simple tee, or for a night out. I’m personally thinking they’d make some great Christmas and birthday presents.

  • Finding My Fashion

    Finding My Fashion

I mentioned earlier this week that I’m going to start a new series on Home Maid Simple. Finding My Fashion will be a series of posts sharing how I am finding my fashion as a mother, wife and individual.

My mom taught me so many things, but one thing we never really discussed was fashion. She never wore makeup because of her sensitive skin, so we never wore makeup. Fashion was something similar. We wore a lot of hand me downs as kids, so I just put on whatever I had clean that day. I don’t recall much thought going into anything I ever wore.

Then I had a fun conversation with my parents a week or so ago about fashion. It went something like this

    Dad “Your kids dress interesting”

Me “yeah. I let them dress themselves. They have their own personalities. I can’t fight it”

Mom “I did the same thing with you guys. I hoped it would help you grow up creative”

Me “Hmmm, was that it Mom? I’m not sure it helped me much. But I’m learning now”

So with that – I give you my first Finding My Fashion post. Mark gave me a $200 gift card to Ross Dress for Less earlier this year. I made a couple purchases that are truly my favorite piece to wear.

These blue Capri’s give a pop of color that I didn’t know I was missing in my wardrobe. Who knew the difference in attitude a color like this could give me.

The shirt I found brought me straight to the beach, a place I have fond childhood memories of. I’ve actually had a weird obsession for beachy things for as long as I can remember – but probably started with this dress from 1st grade.

Now in the past I’d stop at shirt and pants. No accessories, just the basics. I now truly enjoy adding a few little accessories to my outfits, depending on the activity. The sun hat gives the perfect addition if I were headed for a walk on the beach, but living in Utah, it also works great for working in the garden.

Finally ever since piercing my ears at the good old age of 21…yes I pierced my ears at 21 instead of going out for drinks..I decided I needed a new pair of earrings for this outfit. Timing could not have been more perfect when I got Hannah Jane Boutique’s email for this Fashion Deal

From 5/22-5/25 Flower Statement Chandelier Earrings are only $4.99 when you use code FLOWERS – affiliate link
The deal gets sweeter though – Buy more than 1 pair of earrings, and they are only $3.99
They just don’t stop though – your entire order will also ship FREE with that same code.
I got a little lucky though, I sent an email over to April from Hannah Jane Boutique – who happens to be married to Mark’s cousin – and I was able to just drop by their home and pick up my set of earrings. And then by pure luck, Mark’s sister dropped by for an impromptu visit and was able to be my amazing photographer!
