This morning, we actually sat down as a whole family to eat breakfast. Normally we all slowly make our way out, and I let the kids grab a bowl of cereal. Mark fends for himself, and I might eat, if I remember amidst all the other morning tasks I try to get done before the kids go to school. Today though, it’s fall break. YAY! So even though I woke up a little later than normal, and the kids slept in a little, I made everyone wait to eat. I whipped up some pancake batter, tossed on the bacon, and even fried an egg for Mark since I know he doesn’t care for pancakes. Then we sat together.
You know what? Families are happier when they eat meals together. It’s true! It gives you more time to really get to know your family in this busy world we live in. After this morning, I want to try really hard to have more family breakfasts (we already eat dinner together every night). I need quick, or premade ideas though, for when school starts again. So I was happy to see a couple muffin recipes at last weeks party. I’ll be adding these into our menu for the next month.

  • Weekend Bites #3 Pumpkin Round Up

Weekend Bites #3 Pumpkin Round Up

Last week I shared an Apple Round Up – this week I thought it would be fun to take a look at all the Pumpkin recipes you shared. Personally, I’m not a big pumpkin fan. It really has to be used just right for me to like it. I want to like it more, I do. While I continue to refine my pumpkin taste buds, I’ll leave the love of pumpkin flavor in this house to Mark. That means I need your inspiration though so I can cook pumpkin stuff for him.

  • Weekend Bites #2 Apple Round Up

Weekend Bites #2 Apple Round Up

Apples. I love apples so much. While most people I see getting excited for pumpkin this fall, I prefer the apple flavor. If it wasn’t apparent with my Candy Apple Cookies, well now it should be. One of my favorite childhood memories was our 1st grade field trip to an Apple Orchard. We picked the apples, we tasted fresh cider, and learned of the many different varieties. At the time I decided my favorite variety was Granny Smiths. Now I prefer them for baking, but for just chomping down on, I like a sweeter variety.

Welcome Welcome!!  What do you think of our new logo?  No longer are we Foodie Friday – though we had a good run with that name – but now we are Weekend Bites. We would love it if you grab the new button to place on your site, and if you have the old button to replace it. Our hope is that the new name will encourage you to come by throughout the weekend and continue to share and get inspiration with us.
Let’s get the party started with a re-introduction to your hosts!

    Meet Adelina!

I’m Adelina, owner of Home Maid Simple. We’ve been around the web for 4 years now, and thanks to some awesome readers who keep coming around, we just keep growing and getting better.
I’m the mother of 4 adorable children, who I’m pretty sure have made me lose my mind. I’m not as organized as I use to be, and my house looks nothing like a BHG spread. But that’s ok, because we’re enjoying the journey and doing the best we can. We recently moved to North Dakota (incase you missed that crazy adventure!) where my dear husband Mark now teaches music at a private school.

I love food, and cooking, and baking, and most of all I really love eating. So something pictures don’t happen, because I just want to eat it. Here are a couple of my favorite recipes I’ve shared in the past.

    Caramel Apple CookiesMeet Diane!

Diane is the owner of Simple Living and Eating. She lives in the great state of New York with her 2 kids and husband. Her husband built a canoe, and her daughter likes to help bake. One thing you’ll learn about Diane is she is genuine. Every post, comment and reply fro Diane is because she truly cares and wants to get to know you more. Out of anyone I could have asked to host this party with me, I couldn’t have found someone better than Diane.

Now that you know who we are, it’s time for a little featuring! If you are featured go ahead and grab the Featured button to display on your site

Foodie Friday is now Weekend Bites

Hello and Welcome! After some thought, Diane and I have decided to change Foodie Friday to Weekend Bites. If you’d like you can grab the temporary image above, but fingers crossed, we’ll have the new logo next week. I’m really excited for this change. It’s been somewhere around 3 years Foodie Friday has been growing. We hope this name change won’t confuse you, but rather bring you back for more goodness, and invite you to stay awhile longer.
On to the goodies now!  Did you see these delightful looking recipes at last weeks party?
