Did you know it’s only 2 weeks until Christmas?! Shortly after that it will be a New Year! I love this time year. Wrapping up a year with friends, family, and love; then getting ready to give yourself a fresh start. It’s just so magical.
Do you have any holiday traditions? I’d love to hear about them. For us, we eat Christmas Crunch and/or Pofferjes for breakfast Christmas morning. Then on New Years Eve I make a chicken cordon bleu.

Welcome December! I am looking forward to more soups, bread, and of course cookies. I bake a whole lot more during the cold months, and I love sharing goodies with neighbors.  Normally I will bake cookies every other week to help us eat more healthy snacks. This week already I’ve done two batches! The kids gobbled up the oatmeal peanut butter ones, but we’re doing pretty good at spacing out the chocolate chip ones sitting in the jar.

Periodically, I have a really hard time choosing which recipes to feature. Honestly, most weeks I have a hard time. When it is especially hard though, I turn to Mark and ask for his favorites. He loves browsing through your food with me, but he definitely has some favorites. Below each feature find what Mark had to say about these dishes.

Only 2 weeks until Thanksgiving now!! We had plans to visit Mark’s brother in Indiana this year, since we’re closer to them then we’ve ever been now, but would you believe, our kids don’t get out of school until Thanksgiving day. So, we’re keeping it close to home this year, and will just send everyone our love.

There was something in the air this morning. I drove the kids to school, though we normally walk, and as I drove away I thought how much I missed being a kid. Riding the bus to school, playing on the playground and then sitting at a desk soaking up information surrounded by friends.
Perhaps it was the cloudy skies, the 40 degree weather, and bare trees – but it reminded me of “home”. New Hampshire. So then as I’m going through your links from last week I can’t help but be drawn to these recipes that remind me once again of my childhood.

    from Sweet Caroline’s Corner
This right here – I don’t recall EVER having broccoli without cheese sauce. Normally our broccoli was steamed and we’d pour that delicious gold over the top. YUM!

    also from Sweet Caroline’s Corner
I think Sweet Caroline was channeling my childhood this week or something. But really now, this looks so much better then our steamed Brussel Sprouts. I think I may have been the only 8 year old who liked, and I mean really liked Brussel Sprouts! I should make them more often.

    Rainbow Veggies Pizzas
    from Belle of the Kitchen
My childhood was full of fun and healthy eating in the kitchen. This is something I could see my mom having come up with to let us make.

Thanks so much gals for taking me down a food memory today!

This week you all, this week! Last Friday I came down with what seemed like the flu, but by Saturday it was just a sore throat. A really really bad sore throat that turned into laryngitis. Mark has been recovering from a pretty bad cold himself that lasted about 2 weeks. I was finally starting to feel a little bit better Thursday morning, when 2 of my kids woke up with Pink eye. Definitely pink eye! Currently child 3 has started in on the symptoms, so to be safe and kind to everyone – we’re all staying away from people.
My poor kids though, it means missing our church Halloween party which was looking to be quite a blast. We’ll just have to make our own fun here at home, and I found quite the inspiration from you all last week.
