    What Makes You Happy

    When you are having a rough time, it’s nice to remember the things that make you happy. Some call it the silver lining, some call it attitude, or even therapy. I call it good for the soul.

    I had a pretty rough night last night. Mark was so kind and let me sleep in. After finally waking up, and taking a shower, I started to think about all the things I love that make me happy. Here is a short list for you.
    Cute Kids Clothing – and the kids wearing them of course. When kids are little, getting to pick out their clothes, and make sure they match is so fun. I especially love little boys clothes.
    Reading makes me Happy.

    Reading good books – like The Dressmaker of Khair Khana. It’s a fantastic read and insight into women in the middle east. Currently I have a running list on my phone of books recommended by family and friends, or that catch my eye in the bookstore. You can never have too many books to read.
    Find happiness with the Happify Community

    The Happify Community. What a difference they are making in individual lives as we come together on their social platform. If you’re looking for a way to find more focused happiness in your life, definitely give them a try.
    Good Food. Grab lots of delicious recipes right here! It seems everything can be fixed with a balanced diet, and a treat here and there, well it brings a smile to everyone’s face.
    Blogging – and my new Business Cards. I loved how easy these were to create at Modern Greetings, and when I realized I messed up a quick email and call got the order fixed before printing! Great companies who work for the customer are the best.
    Time with Daddy – but especially watching the kids spend time with Daddy. Nothing makes the joy in my heart swell more than seeing Dad on the floor playing with the kids, and their squeals of delight filling our home.

    What Makes YOU Happy?

    A Beutiful Sight to See {Wordless Wednesday}

    I love this man!  I was feeling absolutely awful a few weeks ago. Day 1 – I thought it was a cold. Day 2 – I thought flu. Day 3 – just had some sniffles. Of course it was on day 2 that I really really wanted to get the garden tilled up. So when Mark came home and asked me what I wanted him to do, I politely asked if he wouldn’t mind tilling the garden. And he did. That is true LOVE!

    Of course earlier in March he also was our hero, when he dropped what he was doing at school to come home and save us from this beast of a spider.

    I think it’s safe to say, I married the right man. I just hope he knows how much I appreciate him.

    And in case you’re wondering – I finally today, almost 2 weeks later, got the peas planted. but at least it was tilled.

    Farm Fresh Eggs {Wordless Wednesday}

    Look at those pretty colors!  Can you believe I got these for $1.50/dozen fresh from the chicken on Monday?  And they are JUMBO.  I’m pretty happy I saved a little money and got better, fresher eggs.  They are so pretty, they make me smile.
  • Thirft Store Find {Wordless Wednesday}

    Thirft Store Find {Wordless Wednesday}

    On Saturday we headed to the thrift store to see if we could find any winter gear for the kids. We’ve got quite a bit of snow, and wanted to go sledding.
    We didn’t find any of the gear we needed (snow pants and boots), but we did walk away with this desk! I’ve been wanting an old school desk for the girls to do homework on, but never had the luck of coming across one. I saw this, and knew I was going to leave with it, and redo it. That was when it was covered in snow. Once I brushed the snow off I found a chalkboard top, and already repainted seat. It was ready to go right inside.
    As you can see, the Princesses really enjoy working at it, and playing around it. I’ve been struggling to get Princess C to do any of the preschool books we bought lately, but now she looks forward to it. Having a special space for her has made all the difference!

    Want to know how much I paid?  $8

  • First Haircut {Wordless Wednesday}

    First Haircut {Wordless Wednesday}

    I’m one of those lucky moms who give birth to hairy babies. They always have a head full of hair. Prince L was no exception. Being our first boy, meant a haircut sooner than our girls got. Sunday night, Prince L had some Daddy bonding time.  Mark was needing a haircut, so he cut his own hair, and decided what the heck. Prince L is now sporting a cool dude haircut, that really makes him look more boyish, and older.

    It would also appear that his hair is going blond now. Maybe it’s just the lighting on short hair though.

  • It’s so SOFT!! {Wordless Wednesday}

    It’s so SOFT!! {Wordless Wednesday}

    I entered a contest with HGTV Home and Shaw Flooring. I didn’t win, but just for entering, Shaw sent me this gorgeous area rug.
    I’m not kidding when I say this is soft. It’s like walking on a cloud.
    Don’t believe me, ask Princess R. She faceplanted into it and exclaimed “Soft!”
  • Decorating for Fall {Wordless Wednesday}

    Decorating for Fall {Wordless Wednesday}

    I love Fall/Autumn
    I bought my scarecrow girl on sale a couple years ago…to Mark’s head shaking….
    The corn we grew ourselves, but when we moved, it got left behind. We went and picked the stalks over the weekend. I love the look!
    The Pumpkin came from Princess V’s first ever field trip! We’ll add some more when we go as a family.

    Join us tomorrow on Think About it Thursday, as we talk about Fall vs Autumn.
    What do you call it? Why the two names? Is there a right term?

  • My wee lil’ Pirates {Wordless Wednesday}

    My wee lil’ Pirates {Wordless Wednesday}

    It be International Talk Like a Pirate Day.

    I’ve never seen my kids so excited as when I started saying Ahoy, Avast and Land Lubber this morning. I’ve got 3 Princesses, but don’t let them fool you. They be Pirates at heart.

    Ye may start callin’ me Cap’n Mom now. Princess C has already taken to it.

    Food Collage {Wordless Wednesday}

    I’ve been finding myself having a lot of fun in the kitchen these days. Maybe it’s the end of summer coming on, the cold weather beginning, or perhaps I’ve just found my newest favorite hobby.

    Normally I follow recipes as precisely as I can, only substituting ingredients I know can work. Lately, however, I’ve been creating some of my very own recipes, using a base recipe for things like…cupcakes.  Mmm, are you looking forward to some Foodie Fridays? These are all so good!
  • Country Living {Wordless Wednesday}

    Country Living {Wordless Wednesday}

    Aside from the complaining I’ve done about this house, one thing I have loved is the outside. We have some pretty amazing outside space here.
    We’re right on Main St, and get a lot of traffic, but it’s all fenced and gated in, so the kids can play safely outside.
    What we really love though is when our Landlord comes and waters.  We’ve got irrigation water here, so he just opens the gates and the water floods the lawn. It’s so much fun!
