My thoughts: Even though I already have 3 kids, and baby #4 is coming soon (today perhaps?), I feel like there is still so much I can learn. While reading Valentine’s book I’ve looked back and had the thought “Man, I could’ve avoided those problems if I had read this book!” I know I’ll still make mistakes, and won’t/can’t be perfect, but after reading Smart Baby, Clever Child I feel more equipped and ready to start good learning experiences from birth!
One thing I absolutely loved is that Valentine doesn’t believe we need to go buy every toy and “educational” product to have successful happy children. She actually seems to promote using what you have around the home. And tells you how to make different toys that will be just as effective for baby as a manufactured toy. I feel like I’ve learned a lot and am ready to try again with Baby Prince, and start putting into effect other strategies with the Princesses. Even though some we didn’t focus on when they were babies, I believe through some hard work we can still get positive results!

Princess V absolutely loves Cloud! She even insists on sleeping with him every night. One night this came in very useful. Princess V woke up and was scared of having bad dreams. So we pretended Cloud was a “dream” Cloud. We put on his happy face, and talked about happy things Cloud could help Princess V dream of. When she woke up in the morning, Princess V was very excited to tell me about the Princesses she dreamed of thanks to Cloud!

3-2-1 Stop: Stop running and start living By Lorilee Lippincot
About the author: Lorilee is a wife and mother of 2 kids. She with her family has decided to live a minimalist lifestyle and make life more about what really matters!
About the Book: (blurb from the 3-2-1 stop website) “3-2-1 Stop is a how-to memoir of learning to love simple living. Lorilee uses personal stories, as well as tips learned along the way, showing how to create a life that makes space for what is most important. Embracing minimalism, she tackles and teaches how to make the hard decisions of simplify the home as well as the schedule. She understands that a full life, really doesn’t need to be that ‘full’ at all. Beyond that, Lorilee addresses the hidden emotional hoarding that keeps our souls running.”
My Review: I’ve really enjoyed reading about Lorilee’s journey to live a more simple lifestyle. Although I don’t quite agree with everything she has done in her life, that is the beauty of it. We are all different by nature. I think every one can read 3-2-1 Stop and take something beneficial away from it. Reading through her first section on STUFF, got me really excited to start going through our house and start tossing..well..stuff! I know we have an abundance of items that are rarely if ever used. Why do I still hold on to that? My rational is that I might one day find a use for it. Lorilee’s helped me see that, I also might never use it, and the space is much more precious to me than the stuff.
I really think you have to read 3-2-1 Stop with an open mind, and willing to work it into your personality and lifestyle. For me, apartment living is not ideal. We did it for almost 6 years, and we weren’t happy. We never felt like we had our own space, and for our family, we need our space. Plus, compared to the last apartment we were living in, home ownership actually saved us money, so we’ve been able to do more fun family activities then we could while renting.
The main point I feel Lorilee is trying to tell us all, is we need to stop valuing stuff, and things, and start living a full life with our families. Doing what makes us happy, instead of filling up our schedules every second of the day so we never have time to rest. I’m on a mission to live a more simple life, to enjoy my family more, and really look at the stuff I surround myself with.

I have to say my least favorite feature is the end bidding. When it gets down to the last 20 seconds every time a bid is placed the time resets to 20 seconds. So until someone runs out of points to bid with, it could take a bit. I was so close to winning a $25 mastercard gift card for only .52 cents!! I was outbid by a penny though, and I ran out of points to continue my bidding.
Seriously though look at the good deal someone got…$25 gift card for only .52 cents!!!!

Transcendent: Tales of the Paranormal
Authors: Lani Woodland, Melonie Piper, Rita J Webb, Wendy Swore, Melanie Marks, Heather Mccubbin, and Evan Joseph
About the Book: Discover the secrets of a siren, fly with a hawk girl over the mountains of Montana, and flee supernatural party-crashers as the décor comes to life in this magical journey through paranormal stories.
Along the way, watch for ghosts in a haunted house, or ride through the
moonlight with a stranger. Save a comatose boy who has lost his soul, and
don’t forget to bring your garlic and wolfsbane—you never know when the
shadows will snag you. Transcendent includes eight stories of magic, love, death, and choice by some of the newest names in young adult fiction.
My Thoughts: This was a fun, light book to read in my spare time. The paranormal is not a genre I read often (I spook easily), but I found these short stories to be fun to read. There were a few I wished would continue on. I just didn’t get my fill of Feather, Pumpkin Thief, or Strike. If you’re looking for some quick reads, and enjoy some paranormal I would suggest Transcendent! I plan on checking out more of what these authors have written.

About the book: After a series of strange events, Silas Ainsley realizes that he is not a normal seventeen-year-old. In his journey to escape from two mysterious headhunters, Silas discovers his life and death are key to saving an entire world, called Marenon, from darkness and destruction. The only way to get to Marenon is to die, and Silas has just arrived.
My thoughts: Just reading the synopsis has me intrigued. Another life after you die, where a whole world of humans and other races exist, sounded thrilling. Once I started reading, I thought it might not be as exciting as I hoped. It felt very much like it was going to be a “boy” book. It opens with Silas and his grandfather on the run in a pick up truck, while being shot at. Their only defense being 2 shots left in a shotgun.
Don’t let the beginning of this book fool you. It quickly picks up the pace, and the adventure really begins when Silas finds himself in Marenon. I could hardly put the book down, and read through it pretty fast. I felt the characters were well developed, a plot substantially made, and a desire for more planted firmly!
Marenon itself became a real land to me. I felt the author took your classic fantasy’s like Lord of the Rings, and made them more accessible to real life. A world stuck between life and death. You can only get there by dying, and not everyone gets to go! Why do some humans re-awake in Marenon? What happens when you die in Marenon?
As for the story – Will Silas be able to bring peace to this world between worlds? Will the races join together in peace, or battle to extinction?
I can not wait to get my hands on Book 2!
I am extremely impressed with Jason’s writing. He is self publishing, and I find that impressive. I’ve read self-published books before, and I can always tell. Not with this one. The quality is overall wonderful. There were some minor errors throughout, but from a self-published book, these were very minor.
