Foodie Friday Featuring: Lou Lou Girls

It’s Friday It’s Friday – gosh I love Fridays. Most people love them because it means the start to their weekend. I love them because it’s the day I skip cooking, we grab some pizza, and I get to browse all of your yummy recipes instead!

    This weeks Feature
    Lou Lou Girls

Speaking of pizza – occasionally I do make it from scratch, and the Lou Lou Girls Homemade Mozzarella Cheese would be so divine on from scratch pizza, don’t you think? My family absolutely loves cheese, and with how expensive it can get, this is definitely worth trying to make ourselves.

Lou Lou Girls is such a cute blog, run by 4 amazing women: Cassie and Jessica are sisters, Momma Kim is their mother, and Amber is their sister/daughter-in-law. Together they share lots of yummy recipes, Party Ideas, and Family Life. You can view their individual posts, or search their dinner ideas all from the top bar!
To go with the homemade Mozzarella I just know we’re all going to be whipping up, they’ve also got a recipe for pizza crust and marinara sauce!  Check them out, say hi, and then come back and share your recipes with us.

Seriously, you guys, if you’re linking up over here on Home Maid Simple, and haven’t checked her out, please do. While I’ve been a bit flighty this summer, Diane has continued to keep it going and spends time visiting many of you each week, especially this past week while I’ve been moving…again.

I’m set up now though, have a nice internet connection, and am so excited to sit down and see what was linked up last week and what you have to share with us today.

I was so excited to visit Nicole’s site this week. She shared her Impeccable Peach Pie recipe which brought memories back of my grandma. Anytime food is attached to memories I know I have to share them with you. Perhaps one of these recipes will take you back in time.
Confectionalism was started in May of this year – 2014! She already has many delicious looking recipes going on over there, that you ought to check out. Nicole was a professional photographer and graphic designer, but decided to go back to Culinary School and follow her true passion. Enjoy these recipes she shared on last weeks party.

I am so excited for this weeks feature. Her blog name reminds me of my mom reading the Little House on the Prairie books. I wanted to be Laura Ingalls as a child and now I’d like to be Ma. To live on a farmstead, be mostly self sufficient, and just live simply off the land.

Reading Merissa’s “about me” reminded me a lot about our own situation. It’s not been the same, but the constant struggle just to have the basics. I’m very excited to continue following along Merissa’s adventure in simple living and using the many resources she has made available on Little House Living. I hope you will too!

I love Sandi’s tag line “Eat Foods with lots of Colors”! It makes eating sound more fun, don’t you think?  Especially if you’re trying to eat healthier, and feel like it might be a bit dull. On a New York Foodie you will find a large collection to fit every flavor you might want.
Sandi has no formal training, but loved to watch her mom and grandma cook, watch the Food Network and read cooking magazines. She is a native New Yorker, and as she says “I certainly have the accent”.  I’m really excited to spend a bit more time on A New York Foodie, and I hope you are too!

Whenever I visit Egginon I think what a fun creative name that is – as well as a great play on words for a food blogger. I really enjoy browsing through her recipes, and am excited for her newest series on restaurant reviews. I was really impressed to hear she is training for a marathon too! Anyone that can run that far is amazing to me. I’ll stick with my 5k’s.

For the last 2 days I’ve been at my mom’s house picking and pitting her tart cherries. While hanging out in the tree with my kids, I decided this is what summer is all about. Fresh fruit, kids learning work and having fun, and spending time with those we love. Hopefully by the time you’re reading this we’ll be canning some of the cherries. You can expect recipes over the next month for things like….
    Cherry Limeade Concentrate
    Cherry Pie Filling
    Cherry Juice
    Cherry Jam
Do you love cherries as much as I do? I think they’re the best thing ever.

Ashlynn is the Belle of the Kitchen. She is the mom of two pretty adorable kids, and an army wife currently stationed in Hawaii – Jealous!  Thanks to other bloggers and pinterest she decided to start her blog Belle of the Kitchen.
Reading about Ashlynn is another one of those finds, where I feel we could just be best friends. Her idea that you need or can have everything just in moderation, fits right into my own style of eating. She calls it a “Healthy Appetite” because she does a lot of clean cooking, she also likes to indulge periodically. I hope you enjoy getting to know Ashlynn, and will take some time to connect with her

Well I’ve been home from my solo vacation for almost a week now. Did you see my visit to probably the coolest bookstore on earth? After visiting family, and seeing old childhood haunts, the bookstore was probably the highlight of my week. Followed that up with all the food we went out to eat.
My first night back we went to a place called The Common Man. I shared a Turkey Pot PIe with my niece, because that was huge! Had some Lobster Clam Chowder, and even tried Escargot. After our pedicures on Thursday we grabbed some Mexican where I introduced my nephew to Chalupa (not the Greene family kind). Finally we ended our week of food at my childhood favorite Dimitri’s Pizza in Weare, NH. I NEED their crust recipe, because it’s still the best pizza I’ve ever had.
Well, enough about my trip, let’s visit today’s Featured Blogger
Shari and Tim, bloggers behind Pure Grace Farms, are also the owners of Pure Grace, a small farm outside of Boise, Idaho. While Shari has always wanted to live off the grid, she’s learning to find a middle ground that still allows a self sustaining way of life or as they say a “sane approach to sustainability”.
I know I’m going to be heading back to Pure Grace Farms frequently to learn more on a self sustaining way of life.  I was originally drawn in by their series of Preserving the Harvest: How to Freeze Broccoli. I’m going to have to put Broccoli on our list to grow next year now!

Well, I’m in New Hampshire! Terribly missing Mark and the kids, but loving every minute I get to spend out here. Since my niece and nephew are still in school, I’ve taken up running again, and wow. I can’t believe I ever let myself stop. I know plenty of moms who make the time, but I never felt I could with my kids. This is something I plan on keeping up once I’m home. Even if it’s just walking with the kids. Being outside in Earth’s beauty is invigorating.
Weird thing is that I haven’t been nearly as hungry here. I thought I might find myself snacking a bunch while I’m alone during the days, but I just don’t want to. I think I’ve found my food balance on this trip. I did however pick up some Strawberry Rhubarb Scream from the local farmers market here yesterday. I can’t wait to get it home and try it out. If you happen to live in New England or more specific New Hampshire you should check out Red Fox Farm. My brother also picked up some Duck Eggs from them that I hope to try before leaving.
OH speaking of trying things out – I tried and actually enjoyed my first escargot here. I thought about taking some video of it, but the restaurant was a no cells in the dining area place (LOVE). I don’t think I’ll ever look at the snails we have covering our apt the same, but it was worth it. Much better than calamari.
Well enough of my rambling, let’s move on to this week’s features. Since I am on vacation, I again haven’t had time to really delve into any one blog this week. So instead I will share once again your favorites from last week. Enjoy.

I need to apologize – I never sent out the Newsletter last week. I don’t even know what happened, but it just slipped my mind. I’ve been going through all of May’s parties, so hopefully by the end of Friday you’ll see that newsletter and maybe find a recipe you may have missed.
I’ve been pretty busy this week, getting ready to go visit my brother in New Hampshire. I told you all how my parents gifted me a plane ticket to visit them before they move, right? Yeah I did. Trying to catch up on blog stuff, and visit all your posts, and make sure I haven’t missed anything else….like the newsletter. So instead of featuring any one blogger this week, I wanted to share a couple of my kitchen creations from this week as well as the recipes you all loved the most from last week’s party.
