    This week we’re featuring:
    Say it With Cake

Anyone out there love cake? Who doesn’t like it? ok, most of my family, but that’s besides the point. I love cake. When they look pretty, I love them even more.
Shamene is the owner behind Say It With Cake. She is married with one little boy. Ever since Shamene started joining us for Foodie Friday, I have been captivated with her beautiful cakes, and amazing photography skills. What has really stood out to me though, is how simple Shamene’s cakes are to recreate. She uses boxed cake mixes, with a couple additions to up the flavor in each one.
Last week Shamene shared some holiday inspired mini cakes, truffles that would be a great neighbor gift, and a Black Forest Cake that makes my mouth water looking at. Links to the recipes are under the photos.

Shamene includes a recipe for Marshmallow Fondant and Buttercream icing here.
    truffles
Truffles are really easy to make, and give as gifts to friends and neighbors during the holidays.

I can’t resist cherries and chocolate. It’s a heavenly combination. Included on this recipe is the history behind Black Forest Cakes, which is pretty interesting.

    This week we’re featuring:
Caroline is a mom of 2. She came up with the name Sweet Caroline’s corner because people would often sing Sweet Caroline from Neil Diamond when meeting her. She loves reading, watching movies, baking of course, and taking care of her family!  She and I could get along pretty well if we were ever to meet.
Funny story – even though my name is Adelina, my husband has used the same song as a reference on how to pronounce my name, and I’ve had people singing it as well when meeting me (weird I know)
Last week my eye caught right onto Caroline’s Pomegranate, Kale and Orange Juice Green Juice. I’ve really been wanting to try some green drinks, but haven’t yet (unless you consider hiding my zucchini in smoothies a green drink?).  She also shared this yummy looking Pecan Pie Muffin recipe. I hope you’ll take a moment and browse around Caroline’s site.

Green Juice: Pomegranate, Kale, and Orange Juice
I got my first bag of kale this week, so this is on the menu!
    Pecan Pie Muffins
These would be a great breakfast for rushed mornings, or to send in lunches. I know Mark would probably enjoy these immensely.

    This week we’re featuring:
The main writer behind Jade Louise Designs is Amber – I say main because she has 2 contributing authors as well.  Over the past year I have really gotten to know Amber through a connection on Facebook, past liking each others fan pages. She has inspired me to be more creative and take more time with my own blog.  At one point we found we share a mutual connection through Mark’s cousin. I always love finding out just how small this world is.
Amber is a stay at home mother, housewife, and blogger. Get to know Amber more by visiting her About page.  I chose to feature Jade Louise Designs this week because Amber put together the perfect post full of tips and even a Brine recipe for your Thanksgiving Turkey. I wanted to make sure you all had it, in case you are in charge of cooking the Turkey this year.
Thanksgiving Turkey Tips plus Turkey Brine Recipe, How to roast a turkey and How to carve a turkey!
Anytime Amber posts a recipe, I get sucked right in! And then her photos and links to other recipes, yeah I waste a fair amount of time browsing and pinning her stuff. Things like these Mini German Pancakes, that then led me to checking out her Peanut Butter Hot Cocoa…of which I know I’ve looked at before, but it’s a chilly day here. I couldn’t resist. Someone help me, because I’m off to reacquaint myself with her homemade Belgian Hot Chocolate now too…I may not leave my kitchen this weekend!

    This week we’re featuring:
Kathy is the magic behind this blog. She confesses to be a recipe hoarder, with cookbooks filling ever inch of her house.  Her idea of Melding Magic came from leftovers. Since she hasn’t mastered cooking for 2 yet, they always have plenty of leftovers.  The magic comes when those flavors are allowed to sit and meld together. YUM!  She easily makes leftovers sound a bit more appealing.

Last week Kathy shared this beautiful Three Cheese Eggplant Parmesan with us…
The first time I ever tried Eggplant Parmesan was after Diane posted it as a one of her Foodie Friday recipes last year. Pretty good stuff!  I can’t wait to give Kathy’s a try.

Although I personally avoid consuming alcohol, I think I can easily adapt her technique, and seasonings to create a beerless battered fish.

    and finally dessert
Maple, it just goes with everything!  I’ve got plenty of pumpkin on hand too.

    Call Me PMc

Paula, or PMc as her friends call her, is the owner of Call Me PMc. One of the first things I remember learning about Paula, is that she is a runner. Although it’s been awhile since I’ve personally gone running, it use to be a big part of my life. I plan on one day running again…
Her mom let her have free reign in the kitchen at the age of 8, as long as it was cleaned up afterward. What a great mom she must have had! Now Paula has extended her cooking to all genres of food, and her photography is quite simply amazing.
Last week, Call Me PMc shared these yummy recipes with us.
Pull Apart Bread Sausage Cinnamon Roll
Holy cow! Sweet, savory – I think I could win all my kids over with this one.
Turkey Burger with Sriricha and Pepperoni from www.callmepmc.com
I’ve never had a turkey burger, but pairing it with pepperoni makes it a little more appealing to me.
Amaretto Cream Cheese Coffee Cake #callmepmc - Easy cake to asemble, great for holidays and potlucks
Of course there’s a dessert. There’s always a dessert. Mmm, add some cream cheese to the shopping list.

Tammy is owner of the Creative K Kids, and mom to 4 girls and one boy. The K stands for the first name of each of her girls. They are a cooking and crafting family. You can find so many fun ideas on Creative K Kids, and yummy recipes.  She recently teamed up with the Denverista to start a new Blog hop on Mondays called Bloggers Brags.
The first time I got to know Tammy was when I needed a guest post to help me out while we were moving this summer. She shared with us her Impossible Cheeseburger Pie. It has since become one of the most popular recipes on my Foodie Friday Pinterest Board.  Last week she shared her Pumpkin Cheesecake Monkey Bread, and it is coming in a close second to the pie.

This week’s Featured blog is My Sisters Pantry. If you haven’t been over to meet them yet, let me introduce you to Little Sis and Big Sis. The sisters are separated by 680 miles, but it doesn’t keep them from sharing their thoughts on real and fake food, with a preference for the real. I’ve come to enjoy visiting My Sisters Pantry each week, and seeing how they are using different items that have been hard for me to find a place in our meals (chickpeas..).
Last week they shared a couple dishes full of veggies, including tips on chopping and cooking broccoli and sweet potatoes, and then a home made Chocolate Almond butter.

an easy to put together dish, that could be a side or main dish. I’ll probably make it for my lunch one day. Yummy!

This week I am excited to share another semi-regular party goer – Dianna from Be It Ever So Humble.  I remember the first time Dianna commented here on Home Maid Simple, she told me she knew my husband from high school. That was a fun discovery, and I have looked forward to her linking up each week, as her recipes have been consistently practical and yummy.
Dianna is a homemaker and mother of 2, and holds a BA in English.  Read more about Dianna.
Last week she shared 3 delicious and versatile recipes. I hope you enjoy!
I have to say, I’m not a fan of sauerkraut myself, but I think it’s wonderful Dianna is learning new ways of preserving food for her family!
This looks interesting, but the ingredients sound absolutely yummy! Especially with an egg on top.
I wish there was a picture to go with this. I have a feeling just looking at it would warm me up on this rainy day. It is soup season, and having a basic soup recipe that you can change up each time you make it is really nice.
Thank you Dianna for being a part of Foodie Friday for the past 2 years!

In lieu of sharing my recipes each week, I’ve decided I’d really like to focus more on each of you who link up. So with that in mind, I’d like to feature one of our regular party goers this week.
I look forward every week to what Lisa is going to share with us.  Just be prepared to spend a lot of time on her site browsing recipes, and drooling…I mean it you’re going to love it over there!
Last week Lisa did not disappoint when she shared an Apple Streusel Pizza, Classic Diner Burger, and Margaritas
    Apple Streusel Pizza by cookingwithcurls.com
This just looks amazing! I love streusel, I love Pizza. This is a winning combination in my book.
    Classic Diner Burger by cookingwithcurls.com
Diners are so nostalgic. I love looking for out of the way, small mom and pop diners to eat at. Something about the food is always good. Quite frankly though, I’d love it if she told us what the shake is in the background here. You can’t have a good diner burger without a good shake as well.
    Margaritas cookingwithcurls.com
I personally don’t drink. I never have and never will, but these look very pretty.   I’ll just have to use a similar method and make me some frozen limeades.

    Round Up of Recipes {Foodie Friday}

    BWS tips button

After browsing what I have for you today, head over to my co-host, Diane at Simple Living and Eating, for another fabulous recipe!

It has been one of those weeks for me.  To be honest, I really don’t have them that often. Days – yes. But full on weeks of pull my hair out craziness, not too frequent around here. I feel like I’ve spent most of the week in the car driving from dentist to school to dance and back to dentist.  The week isn’t over yet!  Tonight took the cake as I took all 4 kids to see Mark’s high school band and choir concert. They did great!  The students that is. My kids – not so much. Princess R almost made it on the stage – twice – and Prince L had a sudden burst of spitting up all over mommy.

Needless to say, I’m not really looking forward to Kindergarten registration in the morning – with all 4 kids again. Especially when they kindly stated “and your kindergartner doesn’t need to be there”.  I think that’s code for “please don’t bring your kids”.

I haven’t had much time for cooking or baking this week. The 2 recipes I attempted to create for your enjoyment were EPIC FAILS! I kid you not. Let me give you a few quick pointers –

    1. Don’t listen to someone if they tell you half and half whips up almost like whipping cream. It doesn’t, and you will not have a frosting for the last minute cake you threw together.

    2. Never ever buy Sloppy Joe mix for Food Storage. The sodium taste is horrendous, and you will spend forever trying to find ways to mask it without wasting food.

Since I’m not giving you a personal recipe this week, I thought it would be fun to show you around past Foodie Friday’s in a Meal by Meal layout!  Sit back, scroll and click away (all links should open in a new window), and find some great new bloggers with mouth watering recipes!

    Lunch & Dinner

    Salads and Sides

    Desserts

I once (or twice or more) said how much I wish I could feature you all!  Since that’s really not possible (hey you’ve all got your links on the bottom of the blog…it’s almost a feature!), I thought this was the next best thing. Diane and I have been hosting this Foodie Friday party for over a year now, and we are both thrilled and sometimes overwhelmed with the response you’ve given us.

Thank you all so much for continuing to make my Fridays fun and full of food.

By the by – did you know I have a Foodie Friday Pinterest Board? I try to get at least all my features pinned.  You should come check it out and follow!
