World Domination and a Good Book
10 words that describe yourself?kind, mom, booky, homemaker, shy, quiet, calm, passionate, passive, encompassingFavorite TV Shows?Doctor Who. My friend Linda (Books for Me) was always talking about this British sci-fi show. I sat down to watch it one day, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Mark things I’m silly, but I love it. I’m also enjoying Downton Abbey, though not as much as others seem to, and Emily Owens, MD.If you could take over the world, would you?World Domination…. “What are we going to do tonight?” “The same thing we do every night, Pinky. Try to take over the world!”….I use to have grand world domination ideas. I don’t think I could ever get close though, so I no longer entertain the idea. I’ll just stick to taking over your homes here at Home Maid Simple.Who was the first boy you kissed? My husband, Mark. I knew we were going to get married, so we kissed. The opportunity just never presented itself before. How do you unwind?A hot bath, a good book, or cuddled up by a fire with a good book and some hot cocoa. Basically give me someplace quiet, and a book and I’ll relax.I’d love to hear your answers to these questions. Write your own post or leave me a comment! -

Know Me Better 1/12
This is a meme I participated in last year, and really enjoyed. Kathy from I am a Reader Not A Writer ask 5 questions each week. You can answer in the comments, or link up your answers to her post.I hope you all will enjoy getting to know me better.1. Where is your favorite spot to read? My ideal place would be either by a fireplace, or in a sunny window seat. Until I set up some nice reading spots in those places though, my reading is done either in my bed, or in the car at the school pick up line.
2.Are you a fast or slow reader? (you can test your reading speed here) According to the staples test, I read 303 words/minute. 21% faster than the national average. A normal adult reading speed.
3. Fanfiction – Love it or Hate it? Have your ever read/written it? I’ve never read any fanfiction
4. Summer or Winter? That’s a tough one. I love playing in the snow, and curling up by a warm fire. I don’t like the bitter cold, that doesn’t let you step foot outside without freezing your limbs off. I enjoy summer sunshine, but by the same token as winter, I don’t care for the heat that keeps you inside and unable to do anything fun in the sun. Personally I’ll go for spring or fall.
5. Truth or Dare? Depends who I’m playing with. I enjoy a good dare, but I’m also not going to do anything stupid or dangerous. So if I can assume a dare would be one of those two things, I’ll stick to truth. -

Random Info About Me
Kelli, from Eat Pray Read Love tagged me in this fun About Me post. She’s asked some questions and is waiting for my answers. So here they are!#1 – What is your favorite book ever?
This is always a hard question for me. I LOVE to read, and picking just one, is pretty hard. I think two of the greatest books you can ever read are The Book of Mormon and The Bible.
Fictional, though, I would choose The Giver. It was the first dystopian style book I ever read, and I LOVED it. The whole concept behind this “perfect” world, and learning the truth and then acting on that truth just had me riveted. The Hunger Games Trilogy
(so excited for the movie!) falls under this same dystopian theme, and the series has become another one of my all time favorites!
#2 – Do you greet the day or wish for a few more hours of sleep?
Ummm, both? It really depends on how early I went to bed, whether any kids got up during the night, and how comfortable baby in the tummy let me sleep. Generally, I love mornings. I smile as I hear the birds singing, and see the sun shining through the windows. But some days, what I wouldn’t give for just a few more minutes of shut-eye.#3 – What color would you really want to paint your living room? Or, if you love your living room color, what color is it?
I don’t mind the color we have. I don’t know how to describe it really, it’s an off white, tannish, cream color. We’re painting our family room white, though, and I have to say, I don’t want it white. But for now, it’s going to have to suffice. Really I just want that room livable again, lol!#4 – What is your favorite kind of shampoo/conditioner?
The kind on sale (does that help, Kelli?). Lately, it’s been Sauve – I stock up whenever I find them under $1.#5 – What is your favorite Etsy shop, and does she (or he!) sell?
– I don’t visit etsy as frequently as I used to 🙁 Sad I know, but I had to stop my dreaming of wanting things I could not afford. A few that I still connect with on facebook though are
Saressa Designs. She hand makes some beautiful jewelry (and I am lucky enough to own a necklace from her!)AlgaeArtandCrafts. She’s my sister and pretty creative. I love her stuff, and everyone should check her out!
#6 – Have you met any of your blogger friends in real life that you didn’t previously know?
Sadly, no. This year, though! Blog Conference here I come.#7 – What is one social issue that gets you revved up?
Education. All aspects. I’ll try not to get into it…..oh who am I kidding, you brought it up, Kelli! Teachers are not responsible for your kids! Be the parent! Teach your kid right from wrong, and when they screw up, don’t blame schools and the teachers! The majority of teachers are not in it for the money! Because unless they’ve been teaching for a long time, and live in a real ritzy area, teachers make less per hour than you pay a babysitter to watch your sleeping kids……ok I’m stopping now. It’s a hot button for me.#8 – What is your absolute favorite meal ever?
Easy – Chicken Cordon Bleu. Nothing beats mixing chicken, swiss, ham and a good sauce!#9 – What is your least favorite chore?
Bathrooms! Oh I despise having to clean the bathrooms.#10 – What is your favorite season and why?
Spring and fall. I really find them both similar. In spring, the birds are back bringing joy to the mornings. The flowers are blooming, and it’s time to let in the fresh air. Fall, the leaves are changing, the weather is not too hot or too cold, and it’s time to do some canning.#11 – Do you prefer to be indoors or out?
Oh out definitely! Fresh air just lightens the soul, and makes the whole day better! How fun is that?! Now you know more about me! I’d love to see some of your answers to these questions. Leave a comment, or write up a post!

Get to Know Me Better 12/15
Weekly meme hosted by I am a Reader Not a Writer. This week is a Holiday Edition!1. Red or Green? I like red better. Possibly because I grew up with a ton of green. My maiden name is Greene, and my parents really took it far. We never had to wear green on St Patricks day because it was our last name (warped I know). My parents considered naming all their kids things like Fern and Sea. I am so thankful they didn’t! Their most recent green idea is their house. There is green trim, a green front door, and green carpeting. It doesn’t look bad, but I think I got overloaded with green growing up. To me red is just a nicer color.2. Favorite Christmas Carol? Here we go a Wassailing. Probably stems from the fact that Wassail is a really good drink, and my favorite during the holidays as well. Check out this awesome recipe I concocted.3. What do you want for Christmas? A floor to ceiling pantry. And it looks like I’ll be getting it too! I can’t wait to share the before and after pics with you all!4. Favorite Holiday treat? Oh gosh, I love treats. I have no favorite. I really love baking Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies. I also just made this Apple Cheesecake Streusel the other day and it is divine!!5. Favorite Holiday Tradition? We haven’t established any yet. But growing up my favorite was our Penny Auction. My dad dressed as Santa, one of the kids got to be his elf helper. Then we had a huge bag of things that we had bought at yard sales throughout the year. They were all wrapped up. Everyone got 10 pennies and the bidding was on! Oh it was so much fun!I’d love to know more about you my readers!! Go ahead and answer the questions in the comments, or on your blog! -

Get to Know Me Better
Get to Know me better is a meme hosted by Kathy at I am a Reader Not a Writer. This weeks questions are:1. Pet Peeves? Shoes, socks, coats. I hate them laying all over the house. There are places for these things to go, and I’ve tried hard to make them easily accessible for all! I should not be tripping over 5 pairs of shoes every day.2. Give us a glimpse into a typical day in your day starting when you wake up till you lie down again. You really want to know? Ok! None of my days are the same, really I have a different schedule each day of the week, and it’s crazy!! So my most typical day goes as follows – 6am wake up. Read scriptures and Happy On Purpose. Eat a little breakfast, or start making the kids breakfast. Browse online, check emails, etc, while kids eat and get dressed. 9am princess C’s preschool. 11am get home do some dishes and start on lunch to eat around 12. Eat lunch, have kids do chores like clean their room, and take Princess V to preschool at 1:30pm. Naptime/quiet time for Princess C and Princess R. I read or browse online some more, maybe do laundry or more dishes. Pick Princess V up at 3:30. Check menu plan and start on dinner, while doing more dishes. Eat at 5pm. Relax with the kids. Although during December after dinner each night we have an advent activity. Kids in bed at 8pm, Mark or I (Mark more lately) read to them until they fall asleep. I hold Princess R until she falls asleep. Mark and I get time together finally, and watch any of the following shows – Psych, Bones, House, or Vampire Diaries. Hopefully we’re in bed before 11pm. Depending on how tired, I will read a little more from one of the many books I’m reading, until I fall asleep and start the cycle again.3. Pizza or Pasta? definitely pizza. I’m not a huge pasta fan.4. Finish the sentence – one book I wish I had written is….. LOL! None. I much prefer reading books, because there are so many more creative people out there than me, that can really weave a story and develop the characters.5. Favorite sport? Now that’s a hard one. I really like a lot of sports, although I much prefer playing them. Baseball is probably on the top, then football, then basketball for playing. The only sport I really enjoy just watching is Hockey, and I do enjoy watching Hockey! -

Get to Know Me Better
A weekly meme hosted by I am a Reader Not a Writer (by far my favorite book blog!)This week Kathy is asking –1.If someone wrote a book about your life, what would the title be? I have no clue. Naming this blog was hard enough! Maybe something like Jane of all Trades, Master of None, lol. I dabble in a bit everything, it kind of fits (and Jane sounds better than Jack.) Or The Many Hats of Adelina. Maybe something simple like The Life of a Mom. Maybe we shouldn’t have a book written about me.2. If you could have a signed copy of any novel what would it be and why? The Giver by Lois Lowry. There are a ton of books I would love to have signed, but The Giver was one I picked up and really got me thinking more. It’s my first recommended book to anyone that asks.3. Horror or Romance? Neither really. I don’t like getting scared. I threw A Man Called Poe across my bedroom when reading it as a teen cause it was too creepy! Romance, unless it’s clean and really well written, not much of my thing. A little romance in the book, I don’t mind, and a little horror, but as the main theme of the book, I usually pass.4. If you could choose only one time period and place to live, when and where would you live and why? Romantic Era England. I want to wear those awesome dresses every day, and do my hair up all fancy.5. Do you prefer a bunch of small gifts, or one big expensive one? Neither really. I’d be happy with one or two small gifts. What makes me the happiest is when it’s useful, something I wanted, or something that brings our family closer together. Right now I’m hoping for a floor to ceiling pantry… -

Know me Better 11/10
It’s thursday, time to get to know me better! This is a meme hosted by I Am A Reader Not A Writer1: If you were stranded on a desert island what three things would you want with you? My first thought to this question is always a boat…but I guess that would defeat saying stranded. So I’d want plenty of food, like a cellar in the ground that Jack Sparrow has. Matches to make fire. And good company, so my family would have to be stranded with me.2: What is one book everyone should read? The Book of Mormon.3: If you could have any superpower what would you choose? I’d be super fast! That way I could clean the house every morning, and then spend the rest of the day crafting, and playing with my kids!4: Harry Potter or Twilight? Harry Potter. I do enjoy the Twilight books, but I’ve only read them once, while I’ve read Harry Potty multiple times.5: Gum or breath mints? breath mints. Chewing gum severely hurts my jaw. -

Know me better Thursday 11/3
This is a weekly meme hosted by I am a Reader Not a Writer, in which you my lovely readers get to know me better! This weeks questions are:What’s your favorite season/weather? I love spring and fall for the weather. It’s just perfect. Not too hot and not too cold (usually, this years fall is getting quite chilly). I also love the color changes we get in both seasons. The spring flowers blooming, bringing new life; and the fall trees changing colors and dropping their leaves.PC or Mac? PC. It’s all I’ve ever owned. I have used my mom’s Mac before, and it was very confusing to me trying to find the simple things. I’m sure if I ever had my own, I would get used to it, but I prefer using what I know. When you were little, what did you want to be when you “grew up”? I wanted to be an OBGYN. Yes that was my 8 year old selfs dream. I honestly have no idea why, and that dream is no longer in existance. I really don’t like blood, especially in large amounts, and needles scare the heck out of me!Facebook or Twitter? I really enjoy (maybe too much) facebook. I try to post a lot over there, both on Home Maid Simple’s page, and my personal page. I have a lot of friends I moved away from in high school that I’ve been able to reconnect with. It’s been a wonderful outlet for adult interaction. I’m just getting into twitter though, and I do like it to find products, tips and advice quickly. What TV show/movie/book do you watch/read that you’d be embarrased to admit? I love disney channel. We don’t actually have cable though, so I don’t watch anymore, but when we did, I enjoyed Good Luck Charlie, Wizards of Waverly Place, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, etc.I hope this gives you all a fun glance into who I am and where I come from 🙂 I’d love to hear your answers in the comments, or you can link up over at I am a Reader Not a Writer. -

Get to know me Better!
I came across I am a Reader, Not a Writers meme today, and decided I’d love to let my readers get to know me better! Each thursday she picks 5 questions off her author interview list to answer. And with that, here are today’s questionsIf you could meet one person who has died, who would it be?-I would want to meet anyone of my ancestors. More specifically either of my grandfathers since I never got to meet them. I feel I have a connection to them, yet I know almost nothing about them. For some reason stories about my grandparents weren’t shared very much, and I’m beginning to want to know more about them.Chocolate or Vanilla?-Twist! if it’s available in twist I like them both. If I MUST choose one or the other though, I would have to go with chocolate. It’s a good mood lifter. What do you do in your free time?-What’s that? No, in reality, something I’ve come to learn is that I must give myself free time in order to keep up with the kids, and house without feeling overwhelmed and crashing. Blogging (writing, and reading others) has become my favorite free time activity of late. I also enjoy sewing and reading a good book too though. What movie are you looking forward to this year?-Twilight. Who knew right? In all honesty I’m not one of those crazed Twilight fans, but I am going to the midnight premiere with my sister in law who is probably my best friend ever! So I’m looking more forward to acting like a teenager again by staying up all night, and hanging out with fun people than the actual movie.Spontaneity or planning ahead?-A little of both is more my personality. I love having a plan, but mostly I will just go with the flow. I can easily adjust to things not happening as planned. This is a blog hop! So head on over to I am a Reader not a Writer and link up your answers. Or I’d just love to know more about you in the comments!
