    Next Friday is newsletter day!
Just a fun little update on me – this week my parents gifted me a ticket to visit my brother in New Hampshire. So for one week I get to go hang out with my nephew and nieces (and their awesome parents), before they move to Belgium. YAY!
And on that note – in an effort to continue reconnecting with each other, despite the distance between us all, we’ve started a Video Blog…err Vlog! You can come view us in real life time at The Greene Grass Grows. We get silly, serious, and maybe a little boring at times if you’re not part of our family. Most updates will happen every Saturday there.
And the mention of that leads into why I chose our featured blogger this week – my baby brother has challenged us to eat something spicy once a week. He must think we’re wimps or something. So I’m on a search for spicy recipes – hook me up!

    Memories By The Mile

Wanda Ann has been sharing recipes with us on Foodie Friday for quite some time now. She also hosts her own Treasure Box Tuesday link party that you should all join in if you’re not already. A fun fact you may not know about Wanda Ann – she is a mother, grandmother, but also a truck driver! Together with her husband they travel the country making Memories by the Mile.
Last week Wanda Ann shared her recipe for Chipotle Turkey Wrap. It of course caught my eye as something I need to try for this spicy challenge.  It sounds like it’s got the right amount of heat but in a wrap so it’s perfect for summer. I’ve been browsing Memories by the Mile for more spicy recipes to share with you, and hopefully inspire you to try a little more spice as well. Here’s what I’ve found –

So we’re going to try and do something a little new around here, but we’ll see how well I can keep up with it. Along with the featured blogger each week, I’ll be sharing the most clicked on recipes from the previous week’s link up. Diane and I truly appreciate how big YOU have made Foodie Friday, so we want to get you as much exposure to our readers as we can. We can’t always make it to every recipe with comments, but we do try and pin, and I’ve begun sharing more on facebook as well. I hope this is helping you all out, but if you’d like to see something different, please send Diane or I an email or leave us a comment, and we will do our best to make this party fun for you.

Roxy grew up in Romania, and moved to Toronto when she was 19. I love that she considers herself an amateur chef at home – aren’t we all? Some though like Roxy are extremely talented at cooking, while also being able to make the food look fabulous.
Currently Roxy is focusing on making recipes with 5 or less fresh ingredients. I absolutely fell in love with her photo’s for the 4 Ingredient Creamy Pineapple Berry Smoothie. You may have seen me share it over on Facebook, because wow! I need to get out to the store and get the ingredients for it this weekend.

I’m so excited today! I got a package from my dear mother in law, who is currently living in Japan. I got an email one day asking if there was anything we’d like, along with some pictures of some purses she had found and wanted to know if I would like one. So I responded telling her I’d love anything to enhance my food photography. Thinking she might send me a cute little plate or bowl. I was NOT expecting the large package that arrived on my doorstep today – Check out the dishes on Instagram. My current first world problem is I have nowhere to place all these lovely dishes. I think a china cabinet is now needed.

I haven’t spend a whole lot of time on Erica’s blog before, but last week she shared a Zucchini, Black Bean and Corn Taco’s recipe that caught my eye. I  happened to have a fresh zucchini on hand, and everything else is a staple in this house, except the Feta cheese. Wow, just wow! Please check it out and give it a go. My kids cleaned their plates with minimal complaints, and some even had 2nd and 3rds!!

    My week:
So we’ve been on Spring Break this week – I thought I would get a lot of housework done and playing with the kids – but boy have I been slacking!  It’s just been one of those crazy weeks. It started with my brother coming home from his 2 year LDS mission to Boston on Monday. We met them at the airport Monday night with lots of hugs and excitement. Tuesday I was worn out, so I don’t know what I did. Wednesday was Prince L’s birthday, so we did a lot of train playing and outside running. Today I’m at my mom’s helping her garden. We’ll have it all planned out, and maybe a few seeds planted by the time you’re reading this. Friday we’re doing a family party for Prince L. Saturday is my cousins daughters Baptism, at which I’ll be speaking – nervous! And Sunday will be spend with my family at church where my brother will be speaking on his mission experiences. It’s really a great week though! Just busy. Hope you’re all having a great week too

When I go to a new blog, one of the first things I love to do is learn more about the blogger. I don’t know what it was exactly, but I want to be Raia’s friend for life. We’re pretty different – I am terrified of a home birth, I don’t have any food restrictions, and I actually love to cook (it’s the cleanup I hate!) – but I think there was one thing she said that really made me want to be her friend

“The most import thing about me? I firmly believe Jesus is the Messiah. Coming to this realization was the most amazing thing that ever happened to me.”

Me too Raia! Oh and I also have 4 kids – 3 girls and a boy, so we’re kind of alike there too 😉

Raia jumps out to me as being upbeat, friendly, and loving to all. When I get that feeling after only a few seconds on a blog, I know I’m going to be sticking around – hopefully we can be friends Raia!  Most of what Raia will post is Gluten, egg, and dairy free, and a lot of it will also have chocolate.  Check out what she shared with us last week, and then remember to connect with Raia and say hi!

I am so in love with smoothies. I don’t do them terribly frequently because I hate cleaning the blender, but at least once a week I indulge

I am so in love with Christina from It’s a Keeper! Her site is so friendly and inviting, it makes me feel right at home browsing through her recipes.
I was so excited to learn the Christina is a Field Editor for Taste of Home magazine. I throw a myriad of parenting magazines away every time we move, but my Taste of Home follow us everywhere.

I feel I’ve slacked in sharing recipes with you lately. I don’t know how some of you post so many recipes all the time, you are absolutely amazing! I had planned to be sharing an Easter Cheesecake with you this past week, but despite some pretty pictures, it was not a fabulous cake. So I’m still tweaking it. Maybe next week. In the meantime….

    Lydia's Flexitarian Kitchen

The first question I had to ask myself when visiting Lydia’s site is “What is Flexitarian?”  Thankfully she sums it up in her about us section as “semi-vegitarian style of eating”. I learned something new. I have really been enjoying myself as I browse through the recipes at Lydia’s Flexitarian Kitchen. She and her husband share the kitchen, while she cooks most of the sides and he makes the main dishes. I love seeing families in the kitchen together (currently my husband and 7 year old are in the kitchen making our dinner).
After checking out her Old Fashioned Lemon Pound Cake and Wake Up Oatmeal Cups, I suggest browsing through her 5 Weeks of Flexitarian Eating posts. It looks like a lot of great info in there.
