    Get to Know Me Better

Get to Know me better is a meme hosted by Kathy at I am a Reader Not a Writer.
    This weeks questions are:
    1. Pet Peeves?  Shoes, socks, coats. I  hate them laying all over the house. There are places for these things to go, and I’ve tried hard to make them easily accessible for all! I should not be tripping over 5 pairs of shoes every day.
    2. Give us a glimpse into a typical day in your day starting when you wake up till you lie down again.
You really want to know? Ok! None of my days are the same, really I have a different schedule each day of the week, and it’s crazy!! So my most typical day goes as follows – 6am wake up. Read scriptures and Happy On Purpose.  Eat a little breakfast, or start making the kids breakfast. Browse online, check emails, etc, while kids eat and get dressed. 9am princess C’s preschool. 11am get home do some dishes and start on lunch to eat around 12. Eat lunch, have kids do chores like clean their room, and take Princess V to preschool at 1:30pm. Naptime/quiet time for Princess C and Princess R. I read or browse online some more, maybe do laundry or more dishes. Pick Princess V up at 3:30. Check menu plan and start on dinner, while doing more dishes. Eat at 5pm. Relax with the kids. Although during December after dinner each night we have an advent activity.  Kids in bed at 8pm, Mark or I (Mark more lately) read to them until they fall asleep. I hold Princess R until she falls asleep. Mark and I get time together finally, and watch any of the following shows – Psych, Bones, House, or Vampire Diaries. Hopefully we’re in bed before 11pm. Depending on how tired, I will read a little more from one of the many books I’m reading, until I fall asleep and start the cycle again.
    3. Pizza or Pasta? definitely pizza. I’m not a huge pasta fan.
    4. Finish the sentence – one book I wish I had written is…..  LOL! None. I much prefer reading books, because there are so many more creative people out there than me, that can really weave a story and develop the characters.
    5. Favorite sport? Now that’s a hard one.  I really like a lot of sports, although I much prefer playing them. Baseball is probably on the top, then football, then basketball for playing. The only sport I really enjoy just watching is Hockey, and I do enjoy watching Hockey!

    Get to Know Me Better

A weekly meme hosted by I am a Reader Not a Writer (by far my favorite book blog!)
This week Kathy is asking –
1.If someone wrote a book about your life, what would the title be?  I have no clue. Naming this blog was hard enough!  Maybe something like Jane of all Trades, Master of None, lol. I dabble in a bit everything, it kind of fits (and Jane sounds better than Jack.)  Or The Many Hats of Adelina.  Maybe something simple like The Life of a Mom.  Maybe we shouldn’t have a book written about me.
    2. If you could have a signed copy of any novel what would it be and why?  The Giver by Lois Lowry. There are a ton of books I would love to have signed, but The Giver was one I picked up and really got me thinking more. It’s my first recommended book to anyone that asks.

    3. Horror or Romance?  Neither really. I don’t like getting scared. I threw A Man Called Poe across my bedroom when reading it as a teen cause it was too creepy!  Romance, unless it’s clean and really well written, not much of my thing. A little romance in the book, I don’t mind, and a little horror, but as the main theme of the book, I usually pass.
    4. If you could choose only one time period and place to live, when and where would you live and why?  Romantic Era England.  I want to wear those awesome dresses every day, and do my hair up all fancy.
    Truly Victorian 455: 1830's
Romantic Era Dress. (19k)

    5. Do you prefer a bunch of small gifts, or one big expensive one?  Neither really. I’d be happy with one or two small gifts. What makes me the happiest is when it’s useful, something I wanted, or something that brings our family closer together. Right now I’m hoping for a floor to ceiling pantry…

    Know me Better 11/10

It’s thursday, time to get to know me better!
This is a meme hosted by I Am A Reader Not A Writer
1: If you were stranded on a desert island what three things would you want with you?  My first thought to this question is always a boat…but I guess that would defeat saying stranded. So I’d want plenty of food, like a cellar in the ground that Jack Sparrow has.  Matches to make fire. And good company, so my family would have to be stranded with me.
2: What is one book everyone should read?  The Book of Mormon.
3: If you could have any superpower what would you choose?  I’d be super fast! That way I could clean the house every morning, and then spend the rest of the day crafting, and playing with my kids!
4: Harry Potter or Twilight?  Harry Potter. I do enjoy the Twilight books, but I’ve only read them once, while I’ve read Harry Potty multiple times.
5: Gum or breath mints?  breath mints. Chewing gum severely hurts my jaw.

    Know me better Thursday 11/3

This is a weekly meme hosted by I am a Reader Not a Writer, in which you my lovely readers get to know me better!
    This weeks questions are:
What’s your favorite season/weather?  I love spring and fall for the weather. It’s just perfect. Not too hot and not too cold (usually, this years fall is getting quite chilly).  I also love the color changes we get in both seasons. The spring flowers blooming, bringing new life; and the fall trees changing colors and dropping their leaves.
PC or Mac?  PC. It’s all I’ve ever owned. I have used my mom’s Mac before, and it was very confusing to me trying to find the simple things. I’m sure if I ever had my own, I would get used to it, but I prefer using what I know.
When you were little, what did you want to be when you “grew up”?  I wanted to be an OBGYN. Yes that was my 8 year old selfs dream. I honestly have no idea why, and that dream is no longer in existance.  I really don’t like blood, especially in large amounts, and needles scare the heck out of me!
Facebook or Twitter?  I really enjoy (maybe too much) facebook. I try to post a lot over there, both on Home Maid Simple’s page, and my personal page. I have a lot of friends I moved away from in high school that I’ve been able to reconnect with. It’s been a wonderful outlet for adult interaction.  I’m just getting into twitter though, and I do like it to find products, tips and advice quickly.
What TV show/movie/book do you watch/read that you’d be embarrased to admit?  I love disney channel. We don’t actually have cable though, so I don’t watch anymore, but when we did, I enjoyed Good Luck Charlie, Wizards of Waverly Place, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, etc.
I hope this gives you all a fun glance into who I am and where I come from 🙂  I’d love to hear your answers in the comments, or you can link up over at I am a Reader Not a Writer.

    Get to know me Better!

I came across I am a Reader, Not a Writers meme today, and decided I’d love to let my readers get to know me better!  Each thursday she picks 5 questions off her author interview list to answer.
And with that, here are today’s questions
If you could meet one person who has died, who would it be?
-I would want to meet anyone of my ancestors. More specifically either of my grandfathers since I never got to meet them.  I feel I have a connection to them, yet I know almost nothing about them. For some reason stories about my grandparents weren’t shared very much, and I’m beginning to want to know more about them.
    Chocolate or Vanilla?
-Twist! if it’s available in twist I like them both. If I MUST choose one or the other though, I would have to go with chocolate. It’s a good mood lifter.
What do you do in your free time?
-What’s that? No, in reality, something I’ve come to learn is that I must give myself free time in order to keep up with the kids, and house without feeling overwhelmed and crashing. Blogging (writing, and reading others) has become my favorite free time activity of late. I also enjoy sewing and reading a good book too though.
What movie are you looking forward to this year?
-Twilight.  Who knew right? In all honesty I’m not one of those crazed Twilight fans, but I am going to the midnight premiere with my sister in law who is probably my best friend ever! So I’m looking more forward to acting like a teenager again by staying up all night, and hanging out with fun people than the actual movie.
    Spontaneity or planning ahead?
-A little of both is more my personality. I love having a plan, but mostly I will just go with the flow. I can easily adjust to things not happening as planned.
This is a blog hop! So head on over to I am a Reader not a Writer and link up your answers. Or I’d just love to know more about you in the comments!

10 Tasks in 10 Days Finale

I’m a little late posting this, but we were out in Yellowstone last week.  So here is my list with the final pictures of what I got done.  Thank you Cha Cha (Sit Relax and Read) for hosting such a fun and productive meme!
    1. Organize Kids Rooms and toys
    2. Price and change out old light switches.
    3. Fix curtains. I’ve started this one, but I still need to fix the epic fail.
    4. Set up Craft and Sewing table so it can be used
    5. Organize around Computer Desk
    6. Paint Accent Wall in Master Bedroom
    7. Organize laundry Area
    8. Find and hang large mirror
    9. Finish Christmas Stocking. I didn’t finish but I worked on it much more than I had in a long time!
    10. Help Princess R paint a picture and hang family art.
    11. Plant Okra see the little mounds? That’s them

    12. Hang Mark’s hats
    13. Create a better place for the magazines
    14. Start Cloth Diapering
    15. Wash Windows
    16. Organize and decorate counter between dining and family room.
Now doesn’t that just look better? We took our blue comforter camping, but once it gets washed it’s going on the bed to help tie the wall to the rest of the room.

So I got exactly 10 things completely finished, and a lot more started from my list.  This was so much fun, and very motivating for me!

  • Menu Plan Monday

    Menu Plan Monday

It’s the end of the month, so our menu was a little harder to plan this week.  I’m trying to use up what we’ve got left, as well as incorporate our Bountiful Basket from Saturday.  Here’s what I came up with this week!
Monday – Chicken Breast with Fruit and biscuits
Wednesday – pasta and home made bread
Thursday – Sandwiches on home made bread
    Friday – Home Made Pizza
    Saturday – Barbeque
    Sunday – Slow Cooker Roast

  • Menu Plan Monday – 6/20

    Menu Plan Monday – 6/20

    Our plan for the week
Tuesday – Chicken with Fennel and Tomato Sauce
    Wednesday – Chinese Pork Tenderloin
    Thursday – Spaghetti with meatsauce
    Friday – Chili
    Saturday – Church Pizza Party
    Sunday – Roast and potatoes
Organizing Junkie has asked whether we dish up at the table or buffet style.  We change it up pretty frequently.  My family grew up dishing up at the table, while Mark’s was more buffet style.  There are definitely benefits to both.  Unfortunately we don’t have a very large table, so on days that there are multiple dishes, I usually dish from the counter. If we can fit it all on the table though, that is what we do.
  • Menu Plan Monday

    Menu Plan Monday

Welcome to Monday! As I get our home more organized, and have less boxes to unpack, I am trying to organize the simple things in life.  Things like meals.  I showed you the menu planner my friend made a couple weeks ago, and it’s now time to start using it!
Saturday we got a Bountiful Baskets. So I went through all the fruit and veggies we got, and tried to make our meal plan off of those. Here’s what I came up with
Monday – Baked potatoes, steamed broccoli
Tuesday – Sapghetti, salad and biscuits
    Wednesday – Meatloaf, salad
Thursday – Fend for your self. Myself and the kids will be out of town.
Friday – Chalupa. This is what my family calls chalupa, not what most people think when they hear chalupa. I’ll post the recipe friday!
Saturday – Grilled Chicken and mango salad
