Momma’s Morning Sickness Peach Smoothie with Premama

This post was sponsored by Premama as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central and all opinions expressed in my post are my own.

The last thing any pregnant mama needs is to feel sick 24/7. On top of that, remembering to take a vitamin is usually the last thing on my mind. All I can think of is sleep, and what food might make the nauseous feeling go away when absolutely nothing sounds good. Try this Peach Smoothie with Premama vitamins to soothe those unwanted pregnancy symptoms.

Mark thinks I’m against pills and vitamins, but truth is, I honestly just forget. When I do remember to take my prenatal, though, I’m often so nauseous that the idea of swallowing a huge pill just isn’t pleasant and can sometimes add to the morning sickness. I heard about Premama Prenatal Vitamins and knew I needed to try them out. They contain the same or greater amounts of Folic Acid found in most OTC brands, Omega 3 Fatty Acids and iron.

I had to go on a hunt since the Meijer near me hadn’t started carrying them yet. Just a couple extra miles, though, and I was able to find Premama in the next town over at their Meijer. What a sick pregnant woman won’t do for relief right? Don’t be like me, though,  locate your nearest Premama Meijer here.

See about the only thing that sounds good to me besides potato chips, is fresh fruit and veggies. If I could incorporate my vitamins that I know my body is telling me to get, into food I can stomach, then life might be pleasant again. That’s just what I did with Premama. I picked up the Premama Essentials +DHA to get me through this pregnancy. They also have a Fertility, Lactation, and Digestive Aid vitamin for every stage of becoming a mama!

Premama Essentials+DHA is a powdered vitamin. It’s like those powdered drink mixes you toss in your water to give it some flavor, only with Premama you can add it to just about anything. With my fresh fruit cravings, a smoothie made perfect sense. The 30mg of Vitamin B6 helps soothe those morning sickness feelings, and makes this the perfect peach smoothie for any pregnant Mama.

  • Organize a Back to School Craft and Homework Area with Deflect-o

Organize a Back to School Craft and Homework Area with Deflect-o

I received product from Shoplet and Deflect-o to review. All opinions are 100% my own.

The girls have been back to school for 2 weeks now! The homework has started to trickle in, along with lots of papers. Some I have to sign, some I just need for reference, and cute art projects.

Organize back to school with tool from Deflect-o and Shoplet. ad

Last year we were a mess. We had just moved in. I had no space other than the kitchen table, but we couldn’t keep their school supplies on the table. So instead we were always searching for a pencil, glue stick, or whatever else we may have needed. This year I’ve got a foldable table that I covered with chalk paper set up against the wall that is solely for the kid’s creativity – and sometimes homework.

Next to the table they each have a basket for holding important papers, along with a reminder of what their daily homework is. It’s pretty consistent across the board, so while they may not all have the same homework, we can count on Spelling, Math and Reading as what they should be checking each day.

Organize crafts with the Deflect-o 9 Canister Carousel. ad

I have a confession to make. I’m not a crafty person. We’ve collected random craft supplies – beads, ribbons, stickers, stamps, jingle bells – but they’ve all been hanging out in a myriad of boxes in my closet. A place the kids can’t get to, so they never get used. The Deflect-0 9 canister Carousel was the perfect container to separate all our craft supplies and place them where the kids could reach and actually use them.

Organize Stackable Caddy from Deflect-o and Shoplet. ad

My favorite, however, is the Deflect-o Caddy Organizer. It’s a stackable system, so I can put items we don’t use as often in one container, then stack the more frequently used tools in the top. Our pencil and crayon buckets are constantly being pulled out. Which is another thing I truly love!

While the caddy itself is pretty convenient to carry, it’s made even better because of the removable canisters. The removable canisters make it easy for taking things on the go too! I grabbed the bucket of crayons for coloring during church one day, and the kids have been able to move it to their workspace easily as well.

Find your Tribe and Keep them Close

This post is sponsored by Cents of Style. I received a Tribe Necklace in exchange.

I totally got this you guys.

This work from home, go to school full time, be a Mom and Wife, and deal with all day morning sickness Mom has totally got this!

    What could possibly go wrong?

I totally got this! Find your tribe and keep them close to heart with #CentsofStyle new Tribe Necklaces Haha, yeah that’s what you thought, right? Thank goodness for a tribe of family and friends! You know those people you can lean on, that no matter what won’t judge you. Sometimes they’ll tell you to buck up. Sometimes they bring you ice cream and binge watch the Hallmark Channel with you.

They’re the people you celebrate your successes with, who don’t compare their life to yours. When you get an amazing promotion or life-changing event – they want to hear all about it, despite their own road blocks.

Find your Tribe with a Cents of Style Tribe Necklace. ad

I’ve got a fantastic tribe who do just that for me, and this necklace from Cents of Style reminds me of them and helps me hang on through the harder times.

I’m not a terribly social person. I love people, I love hanging out with others. I struggle knowing what to say, and how to keep conversations going, though. So I wore my Cents of Style tribe necklace to SoFabUOTR – my first ever blogging conference – and the confidence it gave me was fantastic! When I thought of bailing and just hanging around Chicago with Mark, I remembered the people behind me. The ones supporting me and my business venture. I recalled those who told me how excited they were I was doing this, and especially for my Mom who flew out to watch the kids so I could go.

    Animal Planet Summer Learning

I received Animal Planet books in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Summer vacation has come to an end for us, but we’ve had a summer of fun and learning thanks to the new books from Animal Planet.

Check out the Animal Planet Collection of books. ad

Two new books were introduced this summer to the Animal Bites collection, and an Animal Atlas as well. My kids have gotten really into these, and so have their cousins.

I have one nephew who loves to come over, but because he’s older than all the other kids, he doesn’t always have something to do at my house. When I showed him Animal Planet’s books, he was thrilled and spent a good hour browsing the photos and information and showing me which ones were his favorites.

What are your kid’s favorite animals? There are a lot of interesting animals out there, and some you can’t see in a zoo. The photos in these books are absolutely stunning! Check out some of our favorites.

  • Marvel Foot Rest Review

    Marvel Foot Rest Review

I received the Marvel Foot Rest for review from Shoplet. All opinions are 100% my own.

The Marvel Foot Rest is perfect for the work at home parent.

Working from home, and attending school online leaves my legs stiff and sore by the end of the day. The Marvel Foot Rest has really helped! #ad

As much as I love to get out and get moving, the truth is I spend a good portion of my days inside sitting at the computer. I write this blog, I do virtual assistant work, and recently picked up some marketing work with a publishing company. On top of all that work, I also go to school online. There are days where I feel like I don’t move from the computer at all.

The biggest issue I’ve had is with my legs. I pull them up on the couch, when I work there. I cross them at the computer or try to find something to pull them up to rest on. When the Marvel Foot Rest came, I was a bit skeptical. I mean it is just a slight incline and a piece of metal. WOW! I have never felt better after putting in a full day of work.

The Marvel Foot Rest has the perfect incline for comfort while sitting down to work. #ad

The incline on the Marvel Foot Rest is the exact angle I needed to get comfortable. I can now sit longer and focus more on my work because I’m not constantly adjusting to find a comfortable spot.

  • Teaching Children Music Review and a Membership Giveaway

Teaching Children Music Review and a Membership Giveaway

I received a year membership to Teaching Children Music to facilitate this review. All thoughts are 100% my own.

Piano, singing, drums, guitar. Most parents want their children to take some sort of formal music lessons. Teaching Children Music has made it possible for everyone to learn music, including adults.

    We LOVE Teaching-Children-Music.com

I grew up in the home of a Piano Teacher. In 4th grade I began private violin lessons. When 5th grade rolled around I joined the after school band on clarinet. I played an instrument up through the age of 19 on a regular basis. Then I married a man working on his degree in music education.

You would think our children would be little prodigies. But they aren’t. It turns out teaching children music was more difficult than I thought as we tried to balance work with family fun. I worked on reading and writing, and social skills, and general mothering duties, and sort of thought Mark would take over the music education. But after teaching music all day long to kids at school, he didn’t really want to come home and do it all over with the kids.

So when a friend of Mark’s from college developed her own music lessons, I was kind of thrilled. We didn’t live anywhere nearby, but I’d sit and watch the youtube videos she posted. I didn’t always understand it, but knew Mark would be able to translate for me, and then I could teach the kids. After many moves, and well life just being crazy, Tamsyn reached out to me and asked if I would test their new membership option.

Teaching Children Music Review and Giveaway.

    I said yes.

2 Days after I logged in and printed off the piano sheets, my kids were doing this.

No joke. I set Venice up to watch the individual lessons, which go through each song we printed. After lesson 2 she was more interested in just playing through all the music. She loves that the songs are one’s she is familiar with – Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Chopsticks, Rain Rain Go Away, Skip to My Lou, and more! My favorite is listening to chopsticks, but she enjoys The Bicycle.

While the lessons are directed at kids, adults could learn and benefit from these as well. For example – part of the membership gave me access to a Do Re Mi printable strip for the keys. After watching Tamsyn’s video on how to use this, I learned more about music theory and how scales work than I ever did when I actually took music classes!

Teaching Children Music with a Movable Do piano insert

Teaching Children Music has given my kids a good introduction to music that has ignited a passion I knew was hiding just beneath the surface. It also gives us the freedom to fit it into our schedule and our budget. A one-year membership to Teaching Children Music costs less than 1 month of in person piano lessons – at least compared to everywhere I’ve looked! The success I’ve seen with my kids and the knowledge I’ve gained myself has been worth it, so I know we’ll be renewing when our year is up.

If a year doesn’t fit in your budget, though, or you’d like to test it out before committing, you can buy the individual lessons at a lower cost. They just don’t come with the support of a community and all the extra activity’s and games.

Of course, you could also just enter to WIN a membership! Two very lucky readers will win a one-year membership to Teaching Children Music.

Psst. She also has Ukulele lessons, so if the piano isn’t your go to, you could try that out!

    Santoki and LEGO Stationery Review

I received products mentioned for an honest review in connection with USFamilyGuide.com All opinions are my honest thoughts.

    #LEGOStationery #ad

Nothing delights me more than watching my kids use their imagination. It means they’re not crying about being bored, and using the intelligence they have been blessed with. Playing with the new LEGO Stationery from Santoki gave us a good time to put that creativity to work.

Check out the new LEGO Stationary from Santoki #LEGOStationary ad

We were sent a Red Gel Pen and Black Marker from the LEGO Stationery sets, along with a LEGO Race Car building set. It was perfect timing as we celebrated the Indy 500 the same weekend we received the package. Venice was thrilled to put this together, and write with her new LEGO’s.

For now she’s been using them to write in her journal, and just for plain old fun. I can see these being a huge benefit once school is back in session though. I think I can say most kids hate sitting down to do homework after a long day at school. Writing is the last thing they usually want to do at home. If they have the LEGO Stationery, I can see less complaints and more fun.

    Santoki LEGO Stationary #LEGOStationary ad

I believe in making compromises to help kids enjoy hard tasks, and Homework is one of those. We take a lot of little breaks until we can get it all done. With a place right on the writing tool to build their designs, the kids will be able to get their homework done in a more efficient time frame – at least I hope that’s what will happen.

The pen and marker are pretty cool, but I’ve got my eye on the pencil packet and storage container for Back to School time!

  • Knock Out Dad’s Honey-Do List

    Knock Out Dad’s Honey-Do List

I received product from Pfister for review. All thoughts are completely my own.

Fathers Day is tomorrow, but if you’re like me, finding the perfect present can be hard. Instead of a tangible gift this year, why not take care of the honey-do list yourself, and give Dad a break.

Give Dad the gift of relaxation and knock out his honey-do list for him. ad

There are certain things Mark loves, and nice appliances are one of them. As renters, we usually just deal with what we have, but on occasion we’ll update a faucet and suddenly the house feels more like our home. When we had the chance to update the kitchen faucet to a Pfirst Series Pull-Down Kitchen Faucet, we were both pretty excited.

We had the faucet, and I was waiting for a day that Mark had off to get it installed. After all, that’s what our husbands are supposed to do right? Home improvement is usually the majority of what is on their honey-do list. I remember when we first got married, Mark would tell me to make him a list, and I hated it! I didn’t see value in giving him a cliched “honey-do list” of things I was probably capable of doing myself. So rather than a honey-do list, I just made sure whenever there was a home improvement project we did it together.

Pfirst Series Pull-Down Faucet from Pfister is EASY to install! ad

It seemed many of our faucets always needed to be replaced. Often the cause was from a leak, but sometimes we replaced them purely for the visual aesthetics. That’s what our most recent update was. We had actually replaced this kitchen faucet when we moved in with a cheapo – and we got what we paid for – little water pressure, and a mixed up hot and cold because the plumbing was too short.

With Pfister Faucets, you don’t get that. At least we didn’t. Mark’s day off came, and he was saying how he should probably get it installed. I thought for a moment, and then said “No! I want to install it!” Of course, I thought he’d help me, but I believe he was so exhausted from his 12 hour work days, he could trust me to install a faucet. After all, we had done it multiple times together in the past.

What I love about these kinds of projects, is it really doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out. Pfister faucets come with easy to read directions, including pictures for the visual learners. I sent Mark to the couch and I started unpacking the sink cabinet. Out came an old towel to lay my head on, and a couple flashlights strategically placed for ease of viewing.

In 1 hour, I had turned our boring kitchen sink into a little piece of art with an elegant featured piece. I only had to redo it once when I realized the large black tube in the box was the tool I had needed to tighten the extra large washer. When working with plumbing, I’ll tell you right now, it’s never a good idea to say “oh well, I guess finger tight is good enough”.

1 Faucet 2 Features. Stream or Spray with Pfirst Series Pull-Down Faucet from Pfister. ad

The thing that surprised me the most about our new faucet was the water pressure. The last one never had such a consistent amount of water, with the right pressure for me. The kids are completely fascinated by the dual feature, though. It’s only one faucet, but it also turns into your sprayer. Mark loves the new look as well, but he also appreciates that instead of working on his day off, he was able to take a nap instead. Cross that off the honey-do list!

  • Summer Safety with Babiators + a Babiators Giveaway

Summer Safety with Babiators + a Babiators Giveaway

The Babiators information, product and additional gift pack have been provided by Babiators. All opinions are my honest thoughts.

We’ve been on Summer Vacation for about 2 weeks now, and the kids have spent most of the time outdoors. We are on the move more, but that means I also need to be more aware of safety hazards. So how do you stay safe in the summer, while still having fun?

Stay safe this summer while still having fun with Babiators. ad #babiators

Did you know that kids will be outside receiving 3x more UV exposure than adults, but less than 30% of parents are protecting their children’s eyes? I admit, I fall into that 30% of parents. At least I did until Babiators contacted me with the facts.

While it’s important to protect the whole families eyes, kids eyes are especially susceptible, since they are still developing. You can read the Vision Council’s 2015 Report for more facts on how UV rays affect our eyes.

Protect Kids eyes with Babiators. ad #babiators

Obviously, we’re not going to stop heading outdoors, but we can do some simple things that will help us enjoy the summer, while still protecting our vision. We’re starting with finding sunglasses for the whole family. Mark has always worn them, but it’s never been something I worried about, which led to the kids never wearing them either.

Stay Indoors between 2pm-4pm. UV Rays are at their peak during these hours. Enjoy the outdoors during the morning or evening to avoid the strongest UV Rays.

Wear Sunglasses. When heading out in the sun, even on an overcast day, bring your sunglasses. Look for glasses with 100% UVA/UVB protection. We love our Polarized Babiators. They protect but are also comfortable. The kids have been passing these around, but Lincoln has claimed them as his.

Hang out in the sun with Babiators Sunglasses for kids. ad #babiators

Seek Shade. We just bought a Badminton set for some summer fun, but in order to use it, we’ve got to be out in the sun. For those not playing, and when the kids need a break from the game and hot summer sun, we’ve strung up a hammock under the apple tree. It’s the perfect spot for relaxing outdoors and protecting our skin and eyes from harmful UV rays.

Wear Sunscreen. Hopefully this is one we’re all doing already, but I can’t talk about UV protection without talking about sunscreen. Our eyes are important, but so is our skin. So make sure to cover any exposed skin. A sunburn on the face could also mean a sunburn on the eyes. I also recently learned from our emergency trip, that applying sunscreen will help reduce the scarring from Lincoln’s stitches.

Summer safety doesn't have to be a bore. Protect their eyes with Babiators. ad #babiators.

Stay Hydrated. Hot summer days, running around the yard and park will drain kids of liquids fast. Keep them hydrated so they have the energy to continue running and being kids.

  • Summer Car Care Kit and DIY Air Filter Change

Summer Car Care Kit and DIY Air Filter Change

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #SummerCarCare #CollectiveBias

Summer is coming, and with it a couple of fun trips planned. Make sure your car is in tip-top shape with this checklist and Car Care Kit.

Get ready for travel with this Summer Car Care Kit. #summercarcare ad This summer we’ve already got a number of trips planned, but the one I’m looking forward to the most is just Mark and I headed to Chicago for SoFabU On the Road. It’s going to be a blast and a half! The only problem is, we’ll be leaving my car for my mom to use with the kids, and taking his car. So what’s the problem, Adelina? Well, Mark practically lives in his car with the hours he works, and it’s gotten to be a bit of a mess.

Clean our the car for a summer of fun! #summercarcare #ad With Fathers Day around the corner, and our trip shortly after that, I thought I’d be a nice wife and do a little car care for him. I started by putting together a car care kit, and then replacing the air filter.

The kit is small and fits nicely in his car, and will maybe remind him to clean up at least once a week. Here’s what I put inside –

    • Microfiber Towels
    • Q-tips
    • Duster
    • Air Fresheners
    • Ammonia/water spray

For a decent car detailing, this is all you need!  Fill a spray bottle with 1:1 Ammonia and Water. Use the q-tips to clean in small crevices around the car, and the microfiber to wipe down larger surfaces. You can also use this mix on the windshield and windows for a clear driving experience. Don’t forget to hang an air freshener to keep that new car smell.

Keep the new car smell with this Summer Car Care Checklist #summercarcare #ad After you clean the inside of the car, don’t forget under the hood! There are a few simple things you can do at home, to keep your car running smoothly, and changing the air filter is one of the easiest. I prefer the FRAM filters, for the air and my oil.  Clean air in the engine keeps his car running smooth, and is really the engine’s first line of defense.

First, locate the air filter container in your car. Refer to your car’s owner manual if you need help finding this. Open the filter box, and remove the old filter.

Replace air filter for a clean drive #summercarcare #ad The filter on Mark’s car is a simple latch, so I didn’t need any special tools. On my car, it’s held down with screws. Either way, you don’t need any expensive or weird tools to complete this, and it hardly takes 5 minutes to complete. Once you have the old filter out, replace with a new FRAM air filter from Walmart.

Find FRAM Air Filters at Walmart #SummerCarCare #ad The trickiest part of this whole process for me, was getting the air filter box closed again. In mark’s car, it’s in a tight spot, so I kept pushing the filter out one side while trying to close it. Don’t get discouraged, though! Just make sure you watch all sides, so your filter is properly contained before securing the filter container.

DIY Car Air Filter Change #summercarcare #ad Having a clean air filter will improve your car’s performance overall through better horsepower, and increased acceleration which I know Mark will love! Similarly to how I can now love sitting in his car because the inside is clean too!

You’re almost ready for a summer trip now! Before you go, make sure to check the oil, and get the kids involved with a car wash. Finally, you are ready to hit the road in a clean car, from inside to out. I can’t wait to hit up Chicago with Mark now!
